Ein Übelstand besteht bei Quarzlampen darin, daß im Fall, daß eine Lampe während des Betriebes zerbricht, glühende Quarzteile herabfallen und das kochend heiße Quecksilber ausfließt. Ein solcher Bruch macht sich bei Quarzbrennern, die zu Beleuchtungszwecken benutzt werden, weniger fühlbar, da solche Lampen stets mit Glasglocken versehen sind.
