Der Verschlufs bezweckt- die Trennung des eigentlichen Stopfens oder abschliefsenden Mittels von dem Inhalt der Flasche, so dafs letzterer keinen von dem Stoff des Stopfens herrührenden Geruch annehmen kann.The purpose of the closure is to separate the actual stopper or final means of the contents of the bottle, so the latter cannot accept any odor from the substance of the stopper.

In Fig. ι bis 4 der Zeichnung ist α der Hals der Flasche, welcher bei b erweitert und unterhalb b mit einem groben inneren Gewinde versehen ist, in welches das am unteren Ende des Verschlusses befindliche äufsere Gewinde c lose pafst. Der Bund e an der Schraubenspindel d des Stopfens setzt sich in die cylindrische Erweiterung b des Halses a; die Spindel d hat ein feineres Gewinde aufgeschnitten und schraubt sich in den eigentlichen Stopfen/, ■wie Fig. 2 zeigt. Gleichzeitig legen sich die Züge des Gewindes c nach aufwärts fest gegen das innere Gewinde des Flaschenhalses und geben der^ Spindel Halt gegen den aufwärts gerichteten Zug des Stopfens /, wie aus Fig. 4 zu sehen ist.In order to achieve the closure, the stopper / must be partially unscrewed from the spindle d. Dieses ist von Werth, wenn aus irgend einer Ursache, z. B. wegen der besonderen Beschaffenheit des Inhalts der Flasche oder des Gefäfses, das untere grobe Gewinde c sich in dem Hals der Flasche festgesetzt hat.
