Das den Gegenstand vorliegender Erfindung bildende Verfahren zur Herstellung von Gespinsten aus vegetabilischen Fasern besteht darin, daß das zur Bildung des Gespinstes dienende, aus Flachse, Hanf, Jute, Ramie o. dgl. bestehende Faserbändchen, ein Vorgarnfaden oder ein fertiger Garnfaden aus vegetabilischen Fasern durch einen mit halbweicher Papier- oder Zellulosemasse gefüllten Trog geleitet, dann zwischen Walzen gepreßt und hierauf einer Spindel zugeführt wird, die den Faden fertig bildet. Das Produkt des Verfahrens ist ein bisher nicht bekanntes Gespinst, bei welchem die Stoffasern mit den Textilfasern innig gemengt sind und von diesen ohne Zusatz eines Klebstoffes selbst festgehalten werden. Das Produkt unterscheidet sich von Papiergarnen durch höhere Festigkeit und auch dadurch, daß bei der Verarbeitung zu Geweben und nachherigem Kalandern die Fäden sich nicht in lose Bänder auflösen, wie dies bei Papiergarnen der Fall ist.The process for the manufacture of webs which is the subject of the present invention from vegetable fibers consists in that that is used to form the web, from flax, hemp, jute, ramie o. Das von den Vorbereitungsmaschinen gelieferte Faserbändchen, der Vorgarnfaden oder ein fertiger Garnfaden α wird über Führungsrollen b durch einen mit Papier- oder Zellulosemasse gefüllten Trog c gezogen und zwischen Druckwalzen e ausgepreßt. Diese Druckwalzen können mit einer Heizvorrichtung versehen sein, um den imprägnierten Faden zu trocknen. Dann wird der imprägnierte Faden den Einführungswalzen d zugeführt. Ein unter den Walzen d angeordnetes Walzenpaar / kann gewünschten Falles dem Faserbändchen oder Vorgarnfaden einen Verzug erteilen. Von den Walzen f geht der Faden zu einer Spinnvorrichtung beliebiger Art, beispielsweise zu einer Ringspindel. Auf dieser wird das fertige Gespinst auf die Spule i gewickelt.
