Abstract

The water-tube boiler of circular or polygonal cross-section comprises vertical pipes which contact each other at their generating lines to form concentric walls and which are welded at top and bottom to annular or polygonal collectors. Flue gas flows symmetrically and horizontally from the internal combustion chamber surrounded by the boiler pipes through one or more high narrow recesses extending the full height of the combustion chamber. High narrow gas flues between the concentric walls carries further heating surfaces, consisting of contacting or spaced superheating pipes. The flues leading from the combustion chamber to a collecting pipe consists partly of boiler pipes only, and partly of boiler and superheating pipes with or without secondary superheating pipes in the flue gas stream.
