Aqueous textile finishing agent, process for finishing textiles and the resulting products.
Addition to the main patent ....... (Patent application P 15 94 899.9) The invention relates to a textile finishing agent, with which undyed cellulose textile materials can be finished without discoloration, crease-proof and without stiffening, a method for finishing textiles and the cellulosic materials obtained in this way. It relates in particular to a process which consists in that an aqueous agent, the 1,3-dimethylol-4,5-dihydroxy-2-imidazolidinone of the formula I. contains a magnesium salt or an aluminum salt as a catalyst and a sequestering agent, is applied to cellulosic materials.
The invention provides a further aspect or improvement of the invention, which is the subject of the main patent application No. P 15 94 899.9.
The main patent application relates to an aqueous textile finishing agent, the 1,3-dimethylol-4, 5-dihydroxy-2-imidazolidinone, zinc nitrate and a sequestering agent contains.
Usually zinc nitrate is used in combination with sodium acetate for the curing of 1,3-dimethylol-4,5-dihydroxy-2-imidazolidinone is used. Other zinc salts, such as zinc chloride and zinc sulfate, do not lead to the desired "wash-and-wear" properties.
Other curing catalysts, such as magnesium chloride, are not used, since they (1) cause yellowing when hardened, (2) scorch when hot-pressed and (3) cause yellowing when scorched after chlorination. There is therefore a need for a curing catalyst for 1,3-dimethylol-4, 5-dihydroxy-2-imidazolidinone, the ecological one for textile finishing companies suitable is. Since the zinc ion is toxic to bacteria, it is necessary for wastewater treatment many manufacturing companies would prefer to use it abandon zinc salts as these salts require wastewater treatment processes do. There is therefore a need for a method by which textiles are crease-resistant or can be finished permanently iron-free, according to which a textile finishing agent, the 1,3-dimethylol-4, 5-dihydroxy 2-imidazolidinone and one no Contains catalyst comprising zinc salt, applied and exposed to heat is cured, and that compatible with the other requirements and in particular is suitable for white cellulose materials and that (1) yellowing during hardening and (2) prevents or reduces scorching during hot pressing.
It has now been shown that the used according to the main patent Zinc nitrate by a magnesium salt or an aluminum salt such as magnesium chloride, Aluminum chloride or magnesium nitrate, as such or in the form of mixtures used, can be replaced, thereby achieving the desired results and there is no need to use wastewater treatment processes. According to the invention an aqueous solution containing 1, 3-dimethylol-4, 5-dihydroxy-2-imidazolidinone, a sequestering agent and a catalyst consisting of an aluminum salt or a magnesium salt, applied to the textile material, which is then dried and is cured at an elevated temperature.
The invention therefore relates to an aqueous textile finishing agent according to the main patent application P 15 94 899.9 based on 1,3-dimethylol-4,5-dihydroxy-2-imidazolidinone, a sequestering agent and a catalyst, characterized in that is that there is a magnesium or aluminum salt, such as magnesium chloride, Aluminum chloride, magnesium nitrate or mixtures thereof.
The sequestering agent can be used simultaneously with, before or after Application of the 1,3-dimethylol-4, 5-dihydroxy-2-imidazolidinone to be applied 1 preferably the imidazolidinone and the sequestering agent from the same aqueous solution applies. The sequestering agent can, however, from a aqueous solution before or after applying the imidazolidinone and the catalyst be applied.
The textile finishing agent according to the invention contains many fluorescent brighteners compatible, which are normally applied to cellulosic materials, and in particular with brighteners of the stilbene class. Undyed cellulose fabrics according to the invention treated have good resistance to scorching and discoloration, when the fabrics are ironed or ironed and hardened at elevated temperatures.
The non-ionic surfactant given in the following examples Medium is the condensation product of nonylphenol with an average of 9.5 mol Ethylene oxide. Other suitable nonionic surfactants can also be used can be used, such as other alkylaryl polyethylene glycol ethers and ethylene oxide adducts of straight-chain alcohols.
The expression "after chlorination" used in the following examples stands for the yellowing of the test fabric after a chlorination and scorching treatment, which is a modification of AATCC Test Method 92-1967. It becomes this latter Method used with the difference that test specimens are used, the dimensions 4 x 6 inches (10.2 x 15.2 cm) have the samples not in a prewetting bath and that they are placed in the chlorination bath at 26.70C (800F) for 15 minutes be stirred. After this time has elapsed, the fabric samples are removed and separated six times for one minute each time at 26.7 ° C (80 ° F) using 50 parts of rinse water rinsed per part by weight of the dry sample. The samples are then allowed to drain and dry them with the help of a flat press. The chlorinated samples are then for at least 4 hours at 21.1 + 1.1 ° C (70 + 20F) in a constant atmosphere conditioned with a relative humidity of 65 + 2% and then for 30, 60 and 90 seconds with the aid of an AATCC scorching device (AATCC Scorch Tester) scorched at 1850c or 2040C (3650F or 400dz). This will be non-chlorinated Samples used as control samples.
The permanent non-iron finish is made using the AATCC test method 124-169 examined while crease recovery using the Monsanto AATCC method 66-1972 is checked.
