Abstract

The vacuum cleaner is provided with an air-tight dust bag (8) which is tightly clamped in between the two parts (7, 7a) of the vacuum cleaner housing so that the base of the bag (8) is drawn in through suction openings (13) in the lower part (7a) of the housing where it is held taut in the open position in order to collect the dust. In this way, after the dust bag has been sucked in empty through the suction openings, the weight of the accumulating dust keeps the bag taut. Since the suction current is not directed through the dust bag the latter can be made of an air-impermeable material such as the conventional plastic bags.
