Definitions
- the invention relates to a vacuum cleaner according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the air escaping from the vacuum cleaner housing causes some problems.
- the air drawn in by the blower which carries a considerable amount of dust when the vacuum cleaner is actuated, is normally passed completely through the dust bag, in which dust particles of a certain size are retained, but contains it through the dust bag into the engine compartment flowing air and then exiting the vacuum cleaner housing contains a considerable amount of tiny particles that can have harmful effects on people. This is particularly the case when, in the known vacuum cleaners, the air usually escapes at a considerable pressure from closely spaced air slots, which causes additional dust swirling.
- a vacuum cleaner is known in which a cap provided with a large number of air outlet openings is placed over the motor, so that the air exits into the rear housing space under expansion.
- a filter arranged over the entire cross section of the vacuum cleaner housing, through which the air passes in the direction of the air outlet openings located on the rear of the housing. It is particularly disadvantageous that the expansion of the air has largely taken place before the filter, so that even slight contamination should lead to a reduction in the suction power. For this reason, the filter was also arranged over the entire cross-section of the housing, which makes the filter extremely expensive. In addition, the filter was arranged at a point where the replacement of the filter is associated with considerable difficulties for an operator.
- DE-OS 29 45 176 describes a vacuum cleaner in which the space located behind the motor fan unit is divided so that the air is deflected several times on its way from the motor fan unit to the air outlet openings arranged on the bottom of the housing. After the first deflection, the air is completely expanded, passes through air outlet openings in the engine blower compartment, enters a space located at the bottom of the housing and passes through a filter before being released into the environment. In addition to the fact that the air has expanded completely before it passes the filter, the filter fills the entire floor area, so that it must be unusually large and therefore expensive. The location of the attachment is associated with the same replacement difficulties for the operator.
- the object of the invention is to improve a vacuum cleaner according to the preamble of claim 1 such that at the same time an optimal filtering of particles from the air escaping into the environment is ensured in a cost-effective manner.
- the motor is enclosed by an airtight hood attached to the blower, which has an air outlet opening and otherwise encloses the motor in an airtight manner.
- an additional closed space is formed within the engine compartment, into which the blower conveys the intake air.
- the sucked-in air emerges from this hood through air outlet openings provided for this purpose, as a result of which it enters the intermediate space between the vacuum cleaner housing and the hood.
- a circumferential frame comprising the air outlet openings is fitted, into which an air filter with an airtight connection can be inserted and arranged in such a way that the air flowing through the air outlet openings flows through it.
- the escaping air is thus practically freed from any pollutants, so that after it emerges from the vacuum cleaner it cannot have any detrimental effects on the environment.
- the air outlet openings can be arranged close to each other, so that the air can be passed through a relatively small air filter without this having an adverse effect on the environment of the vacuum cleaner, as the concentrated outflow from the hood and at the Outlet cleaned air does not leave the vacuum cleaner with the relatively high pressure, but first enters the space between the vacuum cleaner housing and the hood. In this intermediate room, the cleaned air is first distributed and calmed down.
- the filter is enclosed in a cassette frame, which makes it easier to handle.
- a cassette frame On the outside of the hood there is a circumferential frame surrounding the air outlet openings, into which the filter cassette frame with an airtight connection can be inserted.
- the frame is expediently formed on one side of the hood, the filter being insertable vertically upwards from the underside of the housing, while in the case of a floor vacuum cleaner Frame can be formed on the underside of the hood and the filter is inserted horizontally.
- the filter is expediently supported in the frame by strips, so that it is not bent by the air flowing through it with considerable pressure, which could otherwise lead to its damage.
- the filter is expediently a fine filter, and a handle is formed on the cassette frame, with which the insertion and removal of the filter can be carried out particularly easily.
- the air outlet openings of the vacuum cleaner housing are expediently formed in such a large number distributed over considerable areas of the vacuum cleaner housing that the air emerges from the vacuum cleaner housing at a low speed and with a wide distribution.
- the air emerging from the vacuum cleaner housing with low pressure and good distribution is practically imperceptible even in the immediate vicinity of the vacuum cleaner and cannot cause any annoying dust turbulence.
- a shut-off device is formed in the hood wall, which is opened at a predetermined excess pressure in the hood, so that the sucked-in air can flow out of the hood. Since the user of a vacuum cleaner is not always informed about the condition of the filter through which the air has to pass if it wants to leave the vacuum cleaner housing or the hood, it can easily happen that this filter is not replaced in time. With an increasingly clogged filter, however, the pressure in the hood adjoining the blower increases, as a result of which the suction power of the vacuum cleaner is increasingly reduced. Finally, when the filter is completely clogged, the blower can no longer suck air into the hood, so that the vacuum cleaner can no longer perform its function in this state.
- a user who does not pay attention to the filter in the vacuum cleaner can then get the impression that the entire device is defective.
- This problem is solved by the arrangement of a shut-off device in the hood wall, which is opened at a predetermined pressure as a result of a filter which has been clogged to a certain degree, so that the sucked-in air can flow out of the hood.
- the emerging air is not cleaned, but the functionality of the vacuum cleaner is retained.
- the shut-off device is expediently a flap formed in the hood wall. This flap disengages at a certain overpressure and can be closed again by the operator, so that all the air is cleaned again after the filter has been replaced.
- the design of the shut-off device as a flap is particularly simple and inexpensive.
- the opening of the flap is advantageously indicated optically, electrically or acoustically.
- the flap can be painted in a signal color and arranged so that its open state is visible through air outlet openings in the vacuum cleaner housing. This signal then gives the operator of the vacuum cleaner the hint that the filter must be changed.
- an electrical signal can also be provided, for example in the form of an illuminated lamp, or an acoustic signal which is generated, for example, by the air escaping through the opened flap in the form of a whistle.
- the display of the opening of the flap can reliably prevent a user familiar with the vacuum cleaner from remaining uninformed about the inoperable state of the filter.
- a bearing ring for the blower is integrally formed on the hood, which is connected to the hood via webs.
- the hood expediently consists of a material with elastomeric components.
- the vacuum cleaner housing can be at least partially perforated.
- the engine compartment of a handheld vacuum cleaner is shown.
- the engine compartment is enclosed by the rear part of the vacuum cleaner housing 1 and contains in its end section facing the (not shown) front dust compartment a blower 2 which draws air through the dust compartment and into the engine compartment.
- the motor 3, which drives the fan, is arranged behind the fan 2.
- the motor 3 is enclosed in a hood 4 which connects to the blower in an airtight manner. This creates a closed space containing the motor at the rear of the blower 2, from which the air can only escape at outlet openings provided for this purpose.
- the hood made of an elastomeric plastic also serves as storage for the engine so that an additional bearing ring in the rear area of the engine is not required.
- webs 5 are formed, which are connected to a bearing ring 6 for the blower 2, the bearing ring 6, the webs 5 and the hood 4 being produced in one piece.
- the hood 4 has through holes 7 in its rear upper region, through which the connecting cables 8 are passed such that the through holes are hermetically sealed.
- a frame 9 is formed on the outside of one side of the hood 4, which for.
- the filter 10 is inserted into the frame 9 from the bottom of the vacuum cleaner housing 1 by means of a handle 11 with which the filter is provided.
- the filter 10 is supported by webs 12 so that it is not bent and damaged by the air flowing out at high pressure through air outlet openings 13 in the wall of the hood 4.
- the air flowing out through the air outlet openings 13 must inevitably flow through the filter 10 in order to be able to enter the space 14 between the vacuum cleaner housing 1 and the hood 4, where the air flowing out at high speed is distributed and calms down.
- a flap 16 is formed which, when the back pressure in the hood 4 exceeds a certain value, is opened by this internal pressure. This prevents the vacuum cleaner from becoming inoperable by an approximately clogged filter 10, since in this case the air sucked into the engine compartment by the blower 2 can leave the hood through the opening opened by the opened flap.
- Fig. 4 the rear part of the engine compartment of a cylinder vacuum cleaner is shown.
- the frame 9 is formed on the underside of the hood 4, where it comprises the openings 13 in the hood wall.
- the filter 10 is inserted horizontally from the rear of the vacuum cleaner housing 1 into the frame 9.
Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a vacuum cleaner according to the preamble of claim 1.
With conventional vacuum cleaners, the air escaping from the vacuum cleaner housing causes some problems. Although the air drawn in by the blower, which carries a considerable amount of dust when the vacuum cleaner is actuated, is normally passed completely through the dust bag, in which dust particles of a certain size are retained, but contains it through the dust bag into the engine compartment flowing air and then exiting the vacuum cleaner housing contains a considerable amount of tiny particles that can have harmful effects on people. This is particularly the case when, in the known vacuum cleaners, the air usually escapes at a considerable pressure from closely spaced air slots, which causes additional dust swirling.
From US-PS 20 36 694 a vacuum cleaner is known in which a cap provided with a large number of air outlet openings is placed over the motor, so that the air exits into the rear housing space under expansion. There is a filter arranged over the entire cross section of the vacuum cleaner housing, through which the air passes in the direction of the air outlet openings located on the rear of the housing.
Der Ort der Anbringung ist mit den gleichen Auswechselschwierigkeiten für die Bedienperson verbunden.DE-OS 29 45 176 describes a vacuum cleaner in which the space located behind the motor fan unit is divided so that the air is deflected several times on its way from the motor fan unit to the air outlet openings arranged on the bottom of the housing.
Both of the solutions described also have the disadvantage that, since the air has already completely expanded before reaching the filter, the dust to be filtered by the filter is deposited in the entire room, so that the entire housing space has to be cleaned when changing the filter, or on the other hand rapid contamination of a newly installed filter. will be held. This is accompanied by a permanent impairment of the suction power.
The object of the invention is to improve a vacuum cleaner according to the preamble of claim 1 such that at the same time an optimal filtering of particles from the air escaping into the environment is ensured in a cost-effective manner.
This object is achieved by the features stated in the characterizing part of claim 1.
It is provided according to the invention that the motor is enclosed by an airtight hood attached to the blower, which has an air outlet opening and otherwise encloses the motor in an airtight manner. As a result of this design, an additional closed space is formed within the engine compartment, into which the blower conveys the intake air. The sucked-in air emerges from this hood through air outlet openings provided for this purpose, as a result of which it enters the intermediate space between the vacuum cleaner housing and the hood. On the outside of the air outlet openings of the hood, a circumferential frame comprising the air outlet openings is fitted, into which an air filter with an airtight connection can be inserted and arranged in such a way that the air flowing through the air outlet openings flows through it. The escaping air is thus practically freed from any pollutants, so that after it emerges from the vacuum cleaner it cannot have any detrimental effects on the environment.
In this embodiment of the invention, the air outlet openings can be arranged close to each other, so that the air can be passed through a relatively small air filter without this having an adverse effect on the environment of the vacuum cleaner, as the concentrated outflow from the hood and at the Outlet cleaned air does not leave the vacuum cleaner with the relatively high pressure, but first enters the space between the vacuum cleaner housing and the hood. In this intermediate room, the cleaned air is first distributed and calmed down.
The filter is enclosed in a cassette frame, which makes it easier to handle. On the outside of the hood there is a circumferential frame surrounding the air outlet openings, into which the filter cassette frame with an airtight connection can be inserted. In the case of handheld vacuum cleaners, the frame is expediently formed on one side of the hood, the filter being insertable vertically upwards from the underside of the housing, while in the case of a floor vacuum cleaner Frame can be formed on the underside of the hood and the filter is inserted horizontally.
The filter is expediently supported in the frame by strips, so that it is not bent by the air flowing through it with considerable pressure, which could otherwise lead to its damage. The filter is expediently a fine filter, and a handle is formed on the cassette frame, with which the insertion and removal of the filter can be carried out particularly easily.
The air outlet openings of the vacuum cleaner housing are expediently formed in such a large number distributed over considerable areas of the vacuum cleaner housing that the air emerges from the vacuum cleaner housing at a low speed and with a wide distribution. The air emerging from the vacuum cleaner housing with low pressure and good distribution is practically imperceptible even in the immediate vicinity of the vacuum cleaner and cannot cause any annoying dust turbulence.
Furthermore, it is advantageously provided that a shut-off device is formed in the hood wall, which is opened at a predetermined excess pressure in the hood, so that the sucked-in air can flow out of the hood. A user who does not pay attention to the filter in the vacuum cleaner can then get the impression that the entire device is defective. This problem is solved by the arrangement of a shut-off device in the hood wall, which is opened at a predetermined pressure as a result of a filter which has been clogged to a certain degree, so that the sucked-in air can flow out of the hood. The emerging air is not cleaned, but the functionality of the vacuum cleaner is retained.
The shut-off device is expediently a flap formed in the hood wall. This flap disengages at a certain overpressure and can be closed again by the operator, so that all the air is cleaned again after the filter has been replaced. The design of the shut-off device as a flap is particularly simple and inexpensive.
The opening of the flap is advantageously indicated optically, electrically or acoustically. The flap can be painted in a signal color and arranged so that its open state is visible through air outlet openings in the vacuum cleaner housing. This signal then gives the operator of the vacuum cleaner the hint that the filter must be changed.
Instead of an optical display, an electrical signal can also be provided, for example in the form of an illuminated lamp, or an acoustic signal which is generated, for example, by the air escaping through the opened flap in the form of a whistle. The display of the opening of the flap can reliably prevent a user familiar with the vacuum cleaner from remaining uninformed about the inoperable state of the filter.
Furthermore, it is particularly advantageously provided that a bearing ring for the blower is integrally formed on the hood, which is connected to the hood via webs. The hood expediently consists of a material with elastomeric components. With this design, the mounting of the motor is considerably simplified, since the hood replaces the rear bearing ring arranged in the previously known vacuum cleaners, since it itself sufficiently dampens the vibrations of the motor. The fact that the front bearing ring is integrally formed on the hood, the construction of this vacuum cleaner part is particularly simple and inexpensive.
So that the air emerging from the vacuum cleaner housing is practically imperceptible in the immediate vicinity of the vacuum cleaner, the vacuum cleaner housing can be at least partially perforated.

In the upper area of the
In Fig. 4 the rear part of the engine compartment of a cylinder vacuum cleaner is shown.
