Description
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Extrahieren von Aluminiumtrioxid aus einem Eisen in Form von Goethiten enthaltenden Bauxit nach dem Bayer-Verfahren mit Hilfe e;ner wäßrigen Ätzalkalilösung bei einer Temperatur vorüber 200"CThe invention relates to a method for extracting aluminum trioxide from a bauxite containing iron in the form of goethites by the Bayer method with the aid of e ; ner aqueous caustic alkali solution at a temperature above 200 "C
In general, when extracting the Aluminiumtrioxidanteils bauxite according to the Bayer process to be suitably adapted, when the alumina in the form of gibbsite is present, the conditions of the Ätzalkaliextraktion the form of alumina contained in the ore (Al 2 O 3 · 3 H 2 O), serviced one is a lower extraction temperature in the order of about 150 0 Q when the alumina on the other hand is in the form of boehmite (Al 2 O 3 -H 2 O), is carried out at relatively high temperatures in the order of 200 0 C to 250 0 C. If the extraction is now carried out at the specified lower temperature or at a higher temperature range, the iron yields goethites in the form of λ jn, ie bauxites containing goethite (FeOOH or Fe 2 O 3 -H 2 O) or alumogoethite [(FeAlpOH] an extract solution from which the red mud formed during the extraction can be removed only with difficulty. In such a case, even when using corn starch, which in is usually used as a coagulation aid for red sludge, or an even more effective synthetic coagulation aid, such as sodium polyacrylate, does not achieve sufficient separation of the red sludge by settling. In order to be able to obtain a bottom sludge in which the red sludge is highly enriched, it is necessary, for example, to work in a multi-stage thickener. As a result, the economy of the process is impaired both by the more complicated procedure and by the greater expenditure on equipment. This also applies to the method known from DE-AS Ί5 92 194 for the continuous extraction of bauxite with sodium aluminate liquor by pipe digestion at pressures of about 10 to 200 atmospheres, temperatures of about 200 to 300 ° C, the bauxite suspension while maintaining a turbulent flow is passed through the pipe at a speed of at least 04 to 7.0 m / sec.
The invention is based on the object of improving the method described above so that not just the percentage aluminum trioxide extraction is increased, but also the sedimentation of the red sludge can be facilitated.
According to the invention this object is achieved in that the extraction at a temperature of at least 27O ° C in the presence of an amount sufficient to reduce the goethite to magnetite Huminen performs.
Erfindurijsgemäß sollen nämlich vornehmlich die auf die Anwesenheit vonWhen carrying out the method according to the invention, it does not matter in which mineralogical Form (Gjbbsit or Boehmite) the aluminum oxide is also contained in the bauxite to be treated the bauxite to be treated according to the invention can be iron in the form of goethite and / or alumogoethite or a Mixture of this with iron in other forms, such as hematite and magnetite. According to the invention namely, primarily based on the presence of

gewünschte Zusammensetzung verwendet.ίο Iron in the form of goethites in the bauxite starting material due to difficulties in the separation of the extract into solids and liquids are eliminated.
All caustic alkali solutions used in the known Bayer process for extracting bauxite (for obtaining alkali metal aluminate solutions as an extract) can be used as aqueous caustic alkali solutions in the context of the process according to the invention. For this purpose, an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution is usually used.In the industrial implementation of the process according to the invention, the (spent) liquid obtained from an aqueous sodium aluminate solution after the precipitation of the aluminum hydroxide is used as such or after its readjustment to the desired composition.
Zur Durchführung des Verfahrens gemäß der Erfindung werden Humine, die zu den reduzierenden organischen Substanzen zählen, eingesetzt wobei dieTo carry out the method according to the invention, humins that are associated with the reducing organic substances count, used where the
jo Reduktion des im Bauxit enthaltenen Goethits zu Magnetit bei einer Temperatur von mindestens 2700C nach der folgenden Gleichung abläuft:jo reduction of the goethite contained in the bauxite to magnetite takes place at a temperature of at least 270 0 C according to the following equation:

Übliche Bauxite enthalten zwar häufig Humine, jedoch regelmä-Humins are particularly advantageous because they color the extract solution and in this way one Allow assessment of their concentration. Common bauxites often contain humins, but they regularly

Die Heiz-h ") The method according to the invention is in one heated pressure vessel carried out. The heating time depends on the heating temperature and can be changed with decrease as the heating temperature increases. The heating
In these preliminary tests The conversion of goethite to magnetite is based on X-ray diffraction analysis of the extract from it The red sludge separated from the heat treatment is determined
The extract obtained after the heat treatment carried out according to the invention separates during the Leave to stand, if necessary after adding a known coagulation aid such as starch or Sodium polyacirylate, readily available in red mud and a supernatant alkali aluminate solution. In treatment, darubchinaus becomes that in ahimogoethite Contained aluminum is also extracted in the form of an aluminate, reducing the yield of aluminum gets higher. Furthermore, the humins are consumed during the reduction of the gpethite to magnetite, thereby avoiding their accumulation.
Since the red sludge formed in the process according to the invention mainly consists of If there are magnetite, they can use the magnetism of magnetite in a solid / liquid separation process are fed.

In Fig. 1 of the drawing curves are shown from which the relationship between the settling time of the red mud and the volume of the settled Red sludge shows the curves were plotted by plotting the results of the experiments of the example and the comparative example. The numbers assigned to the individual curves correspond to the test number of the example and comparative example. From Fig. 1 shows that the settling speeds of the red sludge in experiments Nos. 5, 6 and 7 of the example are far greater than the settling speeds in Experiments Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the comparative example.
Beim Beispiel und Vergleichsbeispiel wurde die als m/std angegebene Absetzgeschwindigkeit aus einer Messung der Höhe der überstehenden Flüssigkeit zwei Minuten nach Beginn der Trennung in Rotschlämme und überstehende Flüssigkeit bei 970 ml eines in einem 11 fassenden Meßzylinder befind'ichen Extrakts (in einer Extraktlösung dispergierte Aufschlämmung von Rotschlämmen) ermitteltIn the example and comparative example, the sedimentation rate specified as m / h was derived from a Measurement of the height of the supernatant liquid two minutes after the start of the separation in red sludge and supernatant liquid with 970 ml of an extract located in a measuring cylinder (in an extract solution dispersed slurry of red sludge) determined
