Wenn beim Aufgang des Messerschlittens a derselbe in der Nähe seines höchsten Hubes angekommen ist, stöfst der an demselben befestigte, mit Rolle versehene Stift b an den Hebel c an und hebt denselben bis zum Endpunkt des Schlittenhubes mit in die Höhe. Genannter Hebel hat in d seinen Drehpunkt und ist aus zwei Schienen gebildet, welche die Zapfen e eines auf der Spindel f zwischen zwei Ringen g drehbar sitzenden Kreuzkopfes umfassen. Die mit Handrad h versehene Spindel/ wird so beim Hub des Hebels c mit in die Höhe genommen und also auch der Prefsballen 2, in dessen eingeschnittenem Gewinde die Spindel / eingreift. Das Handrad h dient zum Höher- und Tieferstellen des Prefsbalkens je nach der Dicke der Papierstöfse.
