Die Anordnung des Kegels gestattet eine stetige und nicht stoßweise Regelung der durch das so gebildete Ventil eintretenden Nebenluft und damit auch der Saugwirkung, außerdem aber auch einen festen, luftdicht bleibenden Abschluß des Gehäuses nach außen und ermöglicht ein Nachschleifen des durch i und h gebildeten Ventiles. Je nach dem Abstande des Kegels von dem Kapselrande ändert sich die Menge der zutretenden Nebenluft.
