Description

The invention relates to a housing that can be used for storing an object, in particular an urn. A large number of these housings according to the invention can be assembled to form a columbarium.

Cremation is becoming increasingly important in Germany. The share of cremations in all burials, which usually means that after the corpse has been cremated, the ashes are kept in an urn and then buried in an urn grave or in a columbarium, from 18% in 1980 to 73% in Years 2018.

With around 950,000 deaths, the available space in the around 34,000 cemeteries in Germany operated by the municipalities is often no longer sufficient for new burials, especially since the idle times tend to lengthen. Expanding the cemeteries is becoming increasingly difficult. In North Rhine-Westphalia, for example, churches that have already been closed are being converted into columbaria.

In addition, the willingness of the relatives of the deceased to pay the high costs of a traditional burial with subsequent grave maintenance is decreasing. The costs of an earth burial with subsequent grave maintenance are in the order of 8,000 to 15,000 EUR.

As a result, the trend towards cremation with subsequent storage of the urn in a columbarium will continue in the interest of the municipalities and their relatives.

The invention aims to reduce the space consumption for the columbaria, in particular to increase the total capacity of the columbaria with the same overall external volume and to lower the total costs of the tomb.

For this purpose, it is necessary to reduce the volume for the housing for the urn receptacle and, through the external shape, to enable the columbaria to be designed, which in turn contribute to a reduction in space requirements. This is achieved through the triangular design of the urn housing and empty housings, with the help of which the urn housings can be put together to form a modular ensemble. The triangular design of the urn housing enables twice the number of urn housings to be accommodated on one level of the columbarium.

It is also advisable to manufacture the housing from stainless metal, which, on the one hand, further lowers the manufacturing costs, since the flexible metal that is preferably used is easy to process, and on the other hand, reduces maintenance costs.

By reducing the volume of the housing for the urn as well as the modular arrangement of a large number of these containers, it is achieved that columbaria consisting of surrounding housings according to the invention can be offered up to 60% cheaper than previous columbaria.

A proper housing has the shape of a triangular prism, whereby two variants are possible:

1. 1.) triangular front and back, as well as rectangular base and rectangular side panels
2. 2.) rectangular front, rectangular side parts and triangular top side and base side

The triangular sides can have the same edge length, but also different edge lengths.
By choosing the edge lengths, different or similar housings can be put together to form an ensemble that is perceived as a uniform columbarium.
In order to increase the variety of modular assemblies of intended housings, empty housings can be used in a rectangular or wedge-like shape.
As a result, different types of columbaria can be created depending on the local conditions and wishes.
