Description

The invention relates to a sharpener for pencils with a shaft enclosing a hard pencil lead, which has a cross section that has different dimensions in two orthogonal spatial directions, with a sharpener housing, in which a positive guidance device for rotatingly driving a holding device for the pencil to be sharpened along a defined movement path is provided in relation to the two orthogonal spatial directions in the pointed case.

Such sharpeners with a positive guidance device for rotationally driving a holding device along a defined movement path, which has different dimensions in orthogonal spatial directions, are known.

For example, the DE-PS 25 55 564 a sharpener for pencils with an oval cross-section. This sharpener has a positive guidance device with a first and a second tubular element. The first tubular element has an internal cross section such that the pencil inserted therein cannot rotate. The first tubular member has at least a pair of first and second cams on its outer surface. The second tubular element is provided for receiving the first tubular element.

The DE 101 37 096 A1 discloses a sharpener of the type mentioned at the outset with a positive guidance device which has at least one guide element and at least one guide track, which engages in the guide element.

From the DE 10 2017 011 965 A1 a sharpener of the type mentioned is known, in which the cutting knife is provided in the sharpener housing such that its axial front end abuts the outer surface of the hard pen lead during a sharpening process and the pen lead projects unprocessed from the shaft of the pencil with a front section during the sharpening process.

All these known pencil sharpeners of the type mentioned at the beginning for pencils, which have different dimensions in orthogonal spatial directions, have in common that they are only suitable for pencils of a certain cross-section, so that, for example, elliptical, rectangular or any other non-circular cross-section has its own cross-section Sharpener is required.

Knowing these circumstances, the invention is based on the object of creating a sharpener of the type mentioned at the beginning, with which it is possible in a simple manner to sharpen pencils with different cross-sectional shapes.

This object is achieved by the features of claim 1, i.e. solved in that the holding device is provided for temporarily non-rotatably receiving an adapter which is formed with a guide channel for the pencil to be sharpened.

The guide channel of the adapter can have an oval, rectangular or any other shaped clear cross-section in order to be able to sharpen different pencils with the aid of the adapter which is suitably shaped.

In order to achieve optimal cutting properties of the sharpener, it is preferred if the guide channel of the adapter has a clear cross section, which is matched to the outer contour of the shaft of the pencil without play.

It has proven to be expedient if the adapter has a sleeve body from which a flange element protrudes on the outside, and if the sharpener housing has at least one slot for an associated slide element for temporarily axially holding the flange element. The flange element can run in an axially central section of the sleeve body around the latter.

It is preferred if, in the sharpener according to the invention, the sharpener housing has a pair of diametrically opposite slots for associated slide elements.

In order to define both the holding position of the adapter and the captive release position in the at least one slide element or the preferably diametrically opposite slide elements, it has proven to be advantageous if the / each slide element is designed with latching elements. The locking elements can, for example, be formed by locking knobs which protrude in one piece from the flange element of the adapter.
