Description

  • The present invention relates to a projection system for imaging on an outer wall of an aircraft and to an aircraft having such a projection system.
  • From the US 2014/0242285 For example, a graphical application system is known in which a desired pattern is projected onto a surface of, for example, an aircraft, and a painting nozzle is steered by means of a camera-assisted control in such a way that the projected pattern is transmitted.
  • In this way, a permanent image is created on the aircraft outer skin. This permanent paint can be removed or replaced or painted over only with considerable technical effort. A new or repainting as would be necessary, for example, when changing ownership, is also costly and time consuming.
  • It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a projection system that allows time-variable imaging on an outer wall of an aircraft.
  • To solve these problems serve the projection system according to claim 1. Advantageous embodiments are the subject of the respective subclaims.
  • The projection system for forming an image on an outer wall of an aircraft according to the present invention has at least a projector and a controller that supplies playback image information to the at least one projector so that the projector displays the reproduced image information on the outer wall of the aircraft.
  • The reproduction image information may be, for example, a single image, an image sequence or a movie sequence. These may be landscape images, advertising or entertainment, such as a movie or film clip.
  • In a preferred embodiment, the projection system according to the invention comprises a controller which directs the playback image information to the at least one projector in a phase-flight-dependent manner. For example, at the departure airport, a different display image information may be displayed in this manner than at the destination airport. This can be used, for example, in connection with major events such as fairs, Olympic Games or World Championships. Or the projection may be directed to the underside or appropriate areas of the aircraft once the aircraft is in ground visibility.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the controller obtains environmental image information from at least one camera that captures the aircraft in its environment. The controller then routes a matched playback image information to the projector. In this way, the controller responds to the environment in terms of brightness and color. As a result, day or night-dependent images could be projected.
  • In addition, in this way, a picture reproduction can take place, which is independent of the primer shade of the aircraft paint. For example, the aircraft could be painted in an orange tone. Then, the controller, together with appropriate image processing, would color match and calculate the display image information to be projected so that there would be no image quality loss.
  • It is also conceivable that the reproduction image information displayed on the outer wall of an aircraft is mimicry-like. In this way, the aircraft would not be immediately recognizable against a background, so that it fits inconspicuously into its environment.
  • Instead of just a single camera, in a further embodiment of the present invention, a camera system can be used from a plurality of cameras for detecting the aircraft. In this way, a three-dimensional detection of the aircraft is possible, so that the controller can also project a three-dimensional image entirely or partially onto the aircraft by means of suitable image processing. Such a three-dimensional image may have been calculated either directly for the aircraft, so that the image nestles like a second layer or skin around the outer wall of the aircraft. On the other hand, such a three-dimensional image can also be designed so that it is, for example, only partially projected directly on the exterior wall of the aircraft and the remaining part of the projection, for example, points three-dimensionally away from the exterior wall of the aircraft. For example, this could be a mascot sitting on the aircraft whose body is spatially lifted off the aircraft.
  • In a further preferred embodiment, the at least one camera or the camera system are attached to the aircraft. The cameras should not affect the aerodynamic properties and the visual appearance of the aircraft.
  • In a further embodiment, the at least one camera is a camera system that provides the aircraft with a current exterior view of the aircraft.
  • Preferably, the playback image information is tuned to the environment such that the camouflage of the aircraft takes place and it is not immediately recognizable.
  • In principle, the cameras of a camera system can be arranged on the aircraft so that from its image material the essential exterior view of the aircraft in its environment as it may appear from a distant perspective is calculated. Also conceivable is a system of external cameras on the airfield, which provides the aircraft with the current own view or assigns the desired view. For example, the aircraft could appear in the current runway color and / or, for example, with a helicopter silhouette. Furthermore, an optical marking or a simulation of damage hits is possible.
  • Preferably, the projection of the reproduction image information onto the outer wall of the aircraft takes place by means of at least one so-called beamer or at least one laser, in particular an ultraviolet laser or an infrared laser.
  • The projectors may, for example, be arranged at the tips of the wings, the vertical fin, the fin and / or the wing leading edges. Also on the chassis, an arrangement is conceivable.
  • The projection of the reproduction image information preferably takes place by means of polarized light, wherein a window arranged in the outer wall of the aircraft has a polarizing filter so that the reproduction image information is attenuated or does not even appear on the window. Preferably, the reproduction image information does not appear in the cabin so that it can not be seen through the window. In this way, the view of passengers sitting in the aircraft is not disturbed.
  • In a preferred embodiment, an aircraft comprises the projection system according to the invention.
  • Especially preferably, such an aircraft has such a coating, in which the impact of the ultraviolet laser or the infrared laser causes a luminous effect. In this way, by means of infrared fluorescence or ultraviolet fluorescence, a particularly effective projection onto the aircraft exterior wall can take place. In this case, the infrared or ultraviolet rays would not be visible to the human eye.
  • More particularly, and particularly preferably, the aircraft has such a coating which reflects differently polarized light in different directions, so that, depending on the viewing angle, a different reproduction image information appears on the outer wall of an aircraft. The coating may, for example, be a lacquer having particles arranged in different planes so that differently polarized light is reflected in different directions. In this way, an effect similar to the hue of iridescent interference coatings is generated. As a result, the aircraft can look different from the side, for example by means of two designs projected in differently polarized light, from above. However, it is also possible, for example, a system of films which reflect polarized light in one direction depending on the orientation. Here, the coating comprises at least two films with differently aligned reflection planes, so that the films reflect polarized light as a function of their reflection plane.
  • In order to prevent disturbing effects for the passengers, on the one hand, for example, windows can be left out of the projection. Alternatively, it is also conceivable that integrated polarizing filters in window panes of the aircraft filter the polarized light in such a way that no projection on the window panes can be recognized.
  • It is also conceivable that the present invention is also applied to projections on a ship's outer wall or an airship's outer wall.

Claims (14)

  1. Projection system for imaging on an outer wall of an aircraft with at least one projector and a controller that directs a reproduction image information to the at least one projector so that the projector displays the reproduction image information on the outer wall of the aircraft.
