Abstract

The pin shaft(6) has a head(7) with two or more opposing flat faces on the circumference when viewed along the shaft. Rotation of the pin(5) is prevented by the flat faces when the pins are mounted in a complementary shaped ejector plate. The opposing flat faces are parallel to each other and may be the same or different distances from the shaft axis(13). Alternatively the flat faces may be non-parallel. One or more of the flat faces may be divided into sub-faces at an angle to each other. A defined position of the head(7) may be achieved using an additional flat face(19) and a curved circumferential face(12) opposite the latter. Heads can be formed from the shaft section(6) and the flat faces by milling or the head and flat faces are formed directly from the shaft, in particular by central compression. Tolerance limits in the flat faces are =0.2mm. An independent claim is included for a ejector plate and ejector pin unit, the ejector plate having bores with holders for locating the ejector pins(5). Each holder shape has a shape complementary to the ejector pin head shape. The shafts(6) pass through the bores in the ejector plate having a diameter greater than the shaft. An ejector pin position in a direction transverse to the flat surfaces is determined by the flat surfaces in conjunction with complementary circumferential sections of a holder and not by the bore through which a shaft passes. Bore diameter is not less than0.1mm, preferably not less than0.2mm greater than shaft diameter.
