Gegenstand der Erfindung ist eine Einrichtung, durch welche u. a. die Anwendung der Höllensteinlösung o. dgl. als Vorbeugungsmittel gegen die Augenentzündung der Neugeborenen sehr vereinfacht wird, so daß diese nicht nur durch den Arzt ohne jede Gefahr für die Augen angewendet werden kann, sondern daß auch andere Personen, z. B. Hebammen, das Einträufeln gefahrlos bewirken können. Statt Watte kann natürlich auch ein anderes geeignetes Mittel verwendet werden; auch können Bausch und Zopf zusammenhängen. Wird die Flüssigkeit nach öffnen des Behälters g durch Abbrechen der zweckmäßig mit einer Bruchrille c versehenen Enden in den Behälter t gebracht, so dringt sie langsam durch die Watte hindurch und wird dabei nitriert, so daß etwaige, beim Abbrechen der verjüngten Enden des Gefäßes g entstandene Glassplitter zurückgehalten werden; es bildet sich dann langsam ein Tropfen an dem Wattezopf z, und mit Hilfe des letzteren wird dann der Tropfen ins Auge gebracht. Da das Einträufeln mit Hilfe der Watte und nicht wie jetzt mit einer Pipette erfolgt, ist eine Verletzung des Auges beim Einträufeln nicht möglich.
