Polster aus Wellpappe oder Karton bieten nur eine geringe Polsterwirkung aufgrund der mangelnden Elastizität des Materials, hier geschieht die Umwandlung der einwirkenden Energie üblicherweise durch die Beschädigung oder gar Zerstörung des Packstoffes oder des gesamten Polsterelementes. Sinn des Schutzanspruches ist es ein Polsterelement zu schaffen, das aufgrund seiner Konstruktion elastische Eigenschaften aufweist.
