Plant protection umbrella to protect plants from too much rain/hail and sunburn

STATE OF THE ART

Protective devices for plants in the sense of my invention are not

known.

In relation to the state of the art, something similar is only available to a limited extent.

For large-scale plant protection (entire beds or fields) or for balcony flower boxes, there are utility models that protect against weather influences

should protect.

Protective devices made of plastic are known, also with holes for holding rods that can be stuck into the ground.

PROBLEM

Plants, in my case primarily tomato plants, are very quickly attacked by fungal diseases due to rain or prolonged rainfall and die.

If the sun is too strong, burns can occur and young plants can dry out.

INVENTION / USE / OPERATION

I solve these problems with my plant protection umbrella.

The plant protection screen is a cost-effective replacement for the plastic roofs that almost every allotment gardener builds to protect their tomatoes and which have to be replaced every year with a lot of effort and expense.

When it rains, every plant under such a roof still needs to be watered, because it not only protects the plant but also prevents natural irrigation with rainwater.

My invention protects against rain, hail, sun and waters the plant at the roots.

Watering is only necessary when it is dry.

Since the plant protection screens can be used for several years, it saves the allotment gardener money, helps the environment through multiple use, looks visually appealing and increases the healthy growth of the plants and thus the yield.

The plant protection screen consists of two parts:

1. a plastic screen with various dedicated devices

2. a rod made of wood or plastic with several holes at certain intervals for adjusting the height of the umbrella

The rod (8), an existing one can also be used, should be round and sufficiently long. A hole should be drilled through the top end in 30 cm increments.

The shade (1) is made of plastic, transparent to slightly milky, the outer shape can be round, oval or square, with a reinforced edge all around (2), which gives the shade stability and also serves as a drip edge. The shape is that of a slightly curved shade or funnel.

In the middle there is a flange (3) with a hole (4) above and below the middle of the screen, which is used to attach the plant protection screen to the rod by means of a retaining pin / split pin (5).

If the plant protection umbrella is used as a funnel, collected rainwater can be directed directly to the roots using a conical hose connector (6) and a standard 1.5m hose (7). This means that there is no need to water the plant when it rains. Fertilizer can also be added via the funnel.

To prevent the umbrella from becoming overloaded when the funnel is used (summer thunderstorms/heavy downpours), the flange is used as an emergency overflow. This means that the umbrella/funnel can only fill up to the maximum height of the flange (if, for example, the hose connection is blocked or huge amounts of rain fall). The rainwater then runs over the edge of the flange on the pole down to the roots. The plant stays dry.

It is also possible to create a mini greenhouse with irrigation during the planting season by putting a standard, transparent plastic bag over it (cutting a hole in the middle).

If the plant protection umbrella is used as an umbrella, almost no water reaches the leaves and roots, except perhaps during heavy rain or summer thunderstorms, and the plants are protected from water and sun.

CONCLUSION OF THE APPLICATION

The plant protection umbrella guarantees a reduction in plant diseases and an improvement in plant growth and yield through simple and cost-effective production, a simplification of work in the garden, as well as variable use (rain and/or sun protection, metered fertilization and watering).

Plant protection screen, characterized in that the screen ( 1 ) keeps rainwater away from plants ( 9 ), water drips off the drip edge ( 2 ), plants stay dry, can also be used as sun protection, with a central flange ( 3 ) with 2 holes ( 4 ), through which a rod with variable holes ( 8 ) inserted into the ground passes and holds the plant protection screen at the required height by means of a splint ( 5 ). 2. characterized in that the screen ( 1 ) is used as a flat funnel, i.e. the other way around, with a conical hose connection piece ( 6 ), arranged near the flange, to which a commercially available hose ( 7 ) with a length of approximately 1.5 m can be connected,
This is located directly at the root area ( 10 ) and thus collects the water in the plant protection umbrella when it rains and directs it to the roots via the hose.
The flange acts as an overflow. Excess precipitation runs over the flange on the rod down to the roots without wetting the plant too much, because the edge of the umbrella/funnel is higher than the flange. The overflow prevents the plant protection umbrella from becoming overloaded. 3. Plant protection screen according to claim 1 and 2, characterized in that the round holding rod has at least 3 holes ( 8 ) at a distance (from above) of 30 cm in order to hold the screen at the correct height by means of a split pin ( 5 ). 4. Plant protection screen according to claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the screen surfaces ( 1 ) are made of plastic, transparent to milky, in round, oval or square shape, waterproof and weatherproof. Furthermore, a mini greenhouse can be created by putting a transparent film tube ( 11 ) with a hole in the middle over it. The screen surface can also be printed on as an advertising medium.
