Es sind Leuchten oder Scheinwerfer im Stand der Technik bekannt, die in Öffnungen von Karosserieteilen von Kraftfahrzeugen angeordnet sind, wobei die Lichtscheibe gezielt so ausgebildet ist, daß sie das Gehäuse der Leuchte oder des Scheinwerfers überragt, so daß sich nach dem Befestigen der Leuchte oder des Scheinwerfers in der Öffnung des Fahrzeugteiles ein möglichst geringer Spalt zwischen der Leuchte und dem angrenzenden Karosserieteil ergibt. Die Lichtscheibe ist lichtdurchlässig ausgebildet und hat die Funktion, daß das abgestrahlte Licht in der Lichtverteilung und in seiner Farbgebung gewünschten Vorgaben entspricht. Die Lichtscheibe weist dazu im Bereich des Lichtaustrittes optische Elemente zur Erreichung der gewünschten Lichtverteilung auf. Im Randbereich der Lichtscheibe können diese optischen Elemente in der Regel entfallen, da hier lediglich die Funktion, nämlich die Leuchte bzw. den Scheinwerfer harmonisch in die Karosserieöffnung einzupassen, erfüllt sein muß. Die Lichtscheibe ist aus einem einheitlichen Werkstoff hergestellt, vorzugsweise ein Kunststoff, und ist somit aufgrund der Aufgabe der Lichtscheibe, nämlich Licht hindurchzulassen, zu verfärben bzw. in gewünschte Richtung abzulenken, über seine gesamte Erstreckung zumindest teiltransparent ausgebildet. Somit ist auch der Rand der Lichtscheibe, welcher zum Erzielen einer möglichst geringen Spaltweite zwischen Fahrzeugteil und Lichtscheibe und zur Schaffung einer geeigneten Dichtfläche den Rand des Fahrzeugteiles zumindest teilweise überdeckt, auch transparent ausgebildet. In dem überdeckenden Bereich zwischen der Lichtscheibe und dem Karosserierand wird dann zweckmäßigerweise ein Dichtmittel vorgesehen, welches ein Eindringen von Feuchtigkeit oder Schmutz in den Karosserieinnenraum verhindert. Zur weiteren Verminderung der Spaltweite zwischen dem Fahrzeugteil und der Lichtscheibe kann sich der Rand der Lichtscheibe noch weiter über das Dichtmittel hinweg bis zu dem Fahrzeugteil erstrecken. Der überdeckte Rand des Fahrzeugteiles ist dann aufgrund der transparenten Eigenschaften der Lichtscheibe durch diese hinweg von außen zu erkennen. Dringt beispielsweise Feuchtigkeit oder Schmutz in den Spaltbereich zwischen Lichtscheibe und Fahrzeugteil, so kann dadurch das Erscheinungsbild der Lichtscheibe von der Fahrzeugaußenseite her beeinträchtigt werden.
