Description
The invention relates to lead-free optical heavy and double gravity glasses, which have refractive indices n d between 1.60 and 1.65 and payoffs ν d between 50 and 60.
In recent years, the glass components PbO and As 2 O 3 have been discussed in public as polluting the environment. For this reason, some manufacturers of optical instruments are only going to use glasses that are free of PbO and also As 2 O 3 . Such glasses with the respective optical properties should therefore be available on the market.
Also for the production of light glass parts, i.e. glasses with a low one Density, it is desirable to do without PbO.
By simply replacing the lead oxide with one or more components le succeeds in reproducing the opti influenced and desired by PbO and technical glass properties usually not. Instead are New developments or far-reaching changes in the glass composition necessary.
Je doch zeigen diese Gläser die verschiedensten Nachteile:Numerous documents can already be found in the patent literature, in which lead-free glasses can be described with the optical values mentioned. Each but these glasses have a variety of disadvantages:
Gleiches gilt für die Gläser der hier exempla risch genannten Schriften JP 3-5341 A und JP 8-119666 A, die ebenfalls Li2O benötigen.DE-AS 14 21 877 and GB 996.307 describe glasses which must contain at least 3.3 and 3% by weight of La 2 O 3 in order to adjust the optical position. As a result, the glasses are expensive and uneconomical for a continuous manufacturing process. The same applies to the glasses of the document JP 60-221 338 A, which in addition to partially very high contents of La 2 O 3 (up to 52% by weight) also contain Y 2 O 3 (up to 20% by weight). Due to the sometimes very high B 2 O 3 content in these glasses (up to 50% by weight) and the presence of Li 2 O, the glasses will have poor chemical resistance, which will make their further processing difficult as well as theirs Restricted use. In addition, the devitrification stability of the glasses is reduced by Li 2 O, so that glass defects due to crystals will occur in particular in a continuous production process. The same applies to the glasses of the documents JP 3-5341 A and JP 8-119666 A mentioned here as examples, which also require Li 2 O.
The same applies as for Y 2 O 3 for Gd 2 O 3 . This expensive oxide increases the batch price and thus the production costs enormously. It is an integral part of the glasses described in patent specification DE 22 65 703 C2.
Die in JP 5-17176 A vorgestellten Gläser benötigen SrO. The glasses presented in JP 5-17176 A require SrO. They contain them Component in amounts of up to 20% by weight. Since the influence of SrO on the optical properties roughly corresponds to that of BaO and CaO, the last components mentioned in the glass via significantly cheaper raw materials it can be beneficial for economical production if SrO can be dispensed with.
The glasses described in DE 19 18 350 contain 2 to 14.5% by weight of fluorine. With these high fluorine contents, the cleaning of the exhaust gases, which contain HF and SiF 4 , becomes agile and expensive during production on an industrial scale.
German laid-open specification DE 22 02 012 describes low-SiO 2 , CeO 2 -containing, TiO 2 -free glasses with the optical position mentioned, which are intended to serve as filters. These glasses will tend to discolour under UV radiation. The Japanese document JP 62-70245 A describes glasses, suitable as a core material for glass fibers, which also contain no TiO 2 and therefore hardly have sufficient chemical resistance and resistance to solarization. In addition, without TiO 2, the combination of low Abbe number and high refractive index required for glasses in the double gravity range can hardly be set in this glass area.
Gläser, die weder TiO2 noch ZrO2 enthalten, werden in US 1,513,923 sowie in JP 62-87433 A und JP 3-93644 A beschrieben. Insbesondere bei hohen B2O3- Gehalten (JP 3-93644 A: bis zu 40 Gew.-%, JP 62-87433 A: bis zu 30 Gew.-%) werden ZrO2-freie Gläser eine verminderte chemische Beständigkeit aufweisen.Glasses which contain neither TiO 2 nor ZrO 2 are described in US 1,513,923 and in JP 62-87433 A and JP 3-93644 A. In particular at high B 2 O 3 contents (JP 3-93644 A: up to 40% by weight, JP 62-87433 A: up to 30% by weight), ZrO 2 -free glasses will have a reduced chemical resistance.
US 2,702,749 describes a method for refining heavy crown and dop felschwerkron glasses and the compositions of such glasses. According to the The glasses with KI and / or KBr in proportions of 0.01 to 0.1 % By weight are purified so that the number of small bubbles in the glass is reduced.
In addition to the components KI and / or KBr, SiO 2 , BaO (+ ZnO), B 2 O 3 (+ Al 2 O 3 ), which are present in the glasses, 13 oxides are listed, which are used to achieve the desired optical range can be used, including ZrO 2 .
Die in JP 6-107424 A beschriebenen Schwerkrongläser enthalten kein ZnO. With a ZrO 2 content of 0.5 to 8% by weight, such ZnO-free glasses will not have good crystallization stability. The same applies to the ZnO-free glasses containing 1 to 18% by weight of ZrO 2 from the patent specification GB 1132401.
It is an object of the invention to find lead-free optical heavy-duty or double heavy-duty glasses with a refractive index n d between 1.60 and 1.65 and a number ν d between 50 and 60, which have good melting and processing properties, sufficient Show chemical resistance and have high crystallization stability.
This object is achieved by the glasses described in claim 1 solves.
The glasses contain 20 to 37% by weight of the glass former SiO 2 . At lower proportions, glass formation is made more difficult; at higher proportions, the melting temperature rises so much that other glass components can evaporate.
The glasses contain B 2 O 3 in a proportion of 8 to 20% by weight. This component significantly improves the meltability without negatively affecting the thermal expansion coefficient α 20/300 . The minimum content mentioned ensures that the glasses are sufficiently meltable. The named maximum content should not be exceeded, otherwise the chemical resistance, especially the resistance to alkali, will be negatively affected.
Oberhalb der Ober grenze steigt die Entglasungsneigung zu sehr an.The glasses also contain 43-55% by weight of BaO in order to obtain the desired Abbe to reach the payment area. Below the minimum salary are in this Glass system the desired installments cannot be achieved. Above the waiter limit the devitrification tendency increases too much.
The relatively high BaO contents mentioned are unproblematic, since they are invented glasses according to the invention for stabilizing against crystallization at least 0.01 Wt .-% ZnO contain. ZnO also improves the stain resistance of the Glasses. The maximum content of ZnO is limited to 10% by weight, otherwise chemical resistance, especially acid resistance, deteriorates would.
For further stabilization against crystallization, the glasses can still each contain up to 7 wt .-% CaO and MgO, the sum of CaO and MgO Should not exceed 7% by weight. MgO and CaO not only serve the sub Press the crystallization, but allow relatively high payoffs comparatively low refractive indices. The total of two-valued Oxides BaO, ZnO, MgO, CaO should remain limited to <60% by weight because of otherwise, especially in the case of continuous production Signs of crystallization would occur.
To improve the acid resistance, the glasses contain the constituents ZrO 2 (0.01-7% by weight) and TiO 2 (0.01-5% by weight). At higher proportions, the meltability and the crystallization resistance would deteriorate. In addition, a too high TiO 2 content leads to undesirable yellowing. In the amounts stated, the TiO 2 also serves to achieve the desired optical position, in particular a relatively low Abbe number with comparatively high refractive indices.
Another necessary component is Al 2 O 3 . It is present in proportions of 0.1 to 10% by weight and also serves to improve the acid resistance. An excessively high content has a negative effect on the meltability.
The glasses can contain up to 1% by weight of F - . Especially with higher TiO 2 - and ZrO 2 contents, F - is required to facilitate the meltability. It is also used for fine adjustment of the refractive index and for refining. An addition of more than 1% by weight of F - is not recommended, since segregation and crystallization can then occur and, moreover, exhaust gas cleaning to avoid environmentally harmful vapors becomes very complex.
The glasses can contain up to <3% by weight of La 2 O 3 . This also improves the chemical resistance. At 3% and more by weight, the glass would be difficult to melt. Excessive proportions of these expensive components would also make the glass unnecessarily expensive. A proportion of La 2 O 3 is particularly useful when a further increase in refractive index is desired if the refractive index is already high.
Furthermore, the glasses can contain up to 3% by weight of P 2 O 5 . P 2 O 5 improves the meltability of the glasses and can neutralize a tendency to segregation caused by F - in small quantities. At higher proportions, however, there is a decrease in acid resistance, while the tendency to segregate increases again.
In addition, to improve the meltability, the glasses can contain up to 8% by weight of Na 2 O and 8% by weight of K 2 O, the sum of these alkali metal oxides also not to exceed 8% by weight. At higher contents, the transformation temperature T g and the thermal expansion coefficient α 20/300 would be impaired. Li 2 O is completely dispensed with.
To improve the glass quality, the batch can be used to refine the Glases one or more refining agents known per se in the usual amounts be added. The glass has a particularly good inner glass quality with regard to freedom from bubbles and streaks.
Is not As 2 O 3 as refining agent, but instead z. B. Sb 2 O 3 used, which is possible without losses in terms of glass quality, the lead-free glasses according to the invention are additionally arsenic-free.
Sb2O3 und Cl- beträgt vor zugsweise wenigstens 0,05 Gew.-%.For refining, preference is given to using up to 0.3% by weight of Sb 2 O 3 alone or in combination with the fluorine fraction mentioned or, in particular in the case of the fluoride-free glasses, with up to 1% by weight of Cl - , added for example as NaCl, BaCl 2 . The sum of Sb 2 O 3 and F - or Sb 2 O 3 and Cl - is preferably at least 0.05% by weight.
Eine bevorzugte Gruppe von erfindungsgemäßen Schwerkron- und Doppel schwerkrongläsern der genannten optischen Lage stellen die fluorid- und lanthanoxidhaltigen Gläser des folgenden Zusammensetzungsbereiches (in Gew.-% auf Oxidbasis) dar: SiO2 20-37 (vorzugsweise 26-34; besonders be vorzugt 26-33); B2O3 11-20 (vorzugsweise 12-15); BaO 43-55 (vorzugsweise 43-52); ZnO 0,1-10 (besonders bevorzugt 0,1-4); CaO 0-7 (vorzugsweise 0-2, besonders bevorzugt CaO-frei); MgO 0-7 (vorzugsweise 0 -2, besonders bevorzugt MgO-frei); wobei CaO + MgO 0-7 und BaO + ZnO + CaO + MgO < 60; TiO2 0,01-5 (vorzugsweise 0,01-3); ZrO2 0,05-7 (vorzugsweise 0,1-4); Al2O3 0,1-10 (vorzugsweise 0,5-7), Na2O 0-8 (vorzugsweise 0-2, besonders bevorzugt Na2O-frei); K2O 0-8 (vorzugsweise 0-2, besonders bevorzugt K2O-frei); wobei Na2O + K2O 0-8; La2O3 0,1-< 3; F- 0,05-1; P2O5 0-3.A preferred group of heavy-duty and double heavy-duty glasses according to the invention of the optical position mentioned are the glasses containing fluoride and lanthanum oxide of the following composition range (in% by weight on an oxide basis): SiO 2 20-37 (preferably 26-34; particularly preferably 26 -33); B 2 O 3 11-20 (preferably 12-15); BaO 43-55 (preferably 43-52); ZnO 0.1-10 (particularly preferably 0.1-4); CaO 0-7 (preferably 0-2, particularly preferably CaO-free); MgO 0-7 (preferably 0 -2, particularly preferably MgO-free); where CaO + MgO 0-7 and BaO + ZnO + CaO + MgO <60; TiO 2 0.01-5 (preferably 0.01-3); ZrO 2 0.05-7 (preferably 0.1-4); Al 2 O 3 0.1-10 (preferably 0.5-7), Na 2 O 0-8 (preferably 0-2, particularly preferably Na 2 O-free); K 2 O 0-8 (preferably 0-2, particularly preferably K 2 O-free); where Na 2 O + K 2 O 0-8; La 2 O 3 0.1- <3; F - 0.05-1; P 2 O 5 0-3.
The presence of La 2 O 3 increases the refractive index. This is used in particular when raising the BaO content to increase the refractive index is no longer sensible for the reason discussed at BaO. Due to the presence of fluoride, glasses with a relatively high content of TiO 2 and ZrO 2 for this glass system, such as are used here for achieving the desired glass properties, are available without impairing the meltability of the glasses or causing crystallization phenomena . TiO 2 , in the specified concentrations, enables relatively high refractive indices to be achieved with comparatively low Abbe numbers, in particular here the provision of double heavy crown glasses. ZrO 2 improves chemical resistance.
There is within the preferred composition range mentioned two groups of heavy crown glasses with a particularly balanced combination setting that is particularly important for economical continuous production are suitable.
Die Zusammensetzungsbereiche (in Gew.-% auf Oxidbasis) lauten:The composition ranges (in% by weight based on oxide) are:
SiO2 28-31; B2O3 13-14; BaO 47-50; ZnO 2-3; TiO2 0,1-0,3; ZrO2 0,1-1; Al2O3 4-5; La2O3 0,2-0,6; F- 0,05-0,1; P2O5 0-3.SiO 2 28-31; B 2 O 3 13-14; BaO 47-50; ZnO 2-3; TiO 2 0.1-0.3; ZrO 2 0.1-1; Al 2 O 3 4-5; La 2 O 3 0.2-0.6; F - 0.05-0.1; P 2 O 5 0-3.

These glasses have refractive indices n d between 1.60 and 1.62 and Abbe numbers ν d between 58 and 60.
Further preferred embodiments of the invention are heavy-duty glasses with refractive indices n d between 1.60 and 1.63 and numbers ν d between 55 and 60, in which both F - and La 2 O 3 can be dispensed with. Tables 2 and 3 show the respective composition (in% by weight based on oxide), the refractive index n d , the Abbe number ν d , the density δ [g / cm 3 ], the thermal expansion coefficient α 20/300 [10 - 6 / K] and the transformation temperature T g [° C] of 16 glasses according to the invention.
Die Gußtemperatur betrug 1180-1360°C.The glasses were produced as follows: The raw materials for the oxides (see melting examples in Table 1) were weighed out. The refining agent Sb 2 O 3 was added and mixed well. The glass batch was melted at approx. 1380-1540 ° C, then refined and homogenized well. The casting temperature was 1180-1360 ° C.
Glasses with relatively high proportions of SiO 2 and ZrO 2 require rather high melting and casting temperatures, glasses with high proportions of B 2 O 3 , F - , P 2 O 5 e lower.
Tabelle 1 zeigt zwei Schmelzbeispiele. Tabelle 3, Beispiel 13, angegeben. Table 1 shows two melting examples. The properties of the glass obtained in this way ser are given in Table 2, Example 3 and Table 3, Example 13.
Tabelle 4 verdeutlicht mittels eines Vergleichsbeispiels und zweier erfindungs gemäßer Beispiele den positiven Effekt von ZrO2 auf die Glaseigenschaft chemi sche Beständigkeit am Beispiel der Alkaliresistenz AR gemäß ISO/DIN 10629.Table 4 illustrates by means of a comparative example and two examples according to the invention the positive effect of ZrO 2 on the glass property chemical resistance using the example of the alkali resistance AR according to ISO / DIN 10629.
0,7 Gew.-% ZrO2. V1 corresponds to Example No. 6 from US 2,702,749, but without KI and without KBr. The compositions of glasses 16 and 17 correspond to those of V1 plus 0.01% by weight and 0.7% by weight of ZrO 2 .
The range of glass compositions according to the invention thus represents another Group of lead-free optical heavy-duty and double heavy-duty glasses with the mentioned optical properties available.
The glasses meet the requirement for sufficient chemical resistance. This is important for further processing such as grinding and polishing and for the possible uses of the glasses. Compared with conventional lead and arsenic glasses of the same optical position, the glasses according to the invention have improved acid resistance. For example, in the test for acid resistance according to ISO 8424, glass No. 12 (see examples and table 3) achieved acid resistance class 51.2, while the corresponding conventional lead and arsenic glass of the same concrete optical position was only classified in class 51.3 becomes. The number behind the class information is used to identify visible surface changes. The classification .2 expresses that, according to the class, the acid attack only causes a slight selective leaching (interference colors), while at .3 a firmly adhering, thin white layer forms. In the test for stain resistance, glass No. 5 (see examples and table 5) is classified as stain resistance class 3. The class of stain resistance is determined according to the following procedure: The plane-polished glass sample to be tested is pressed onto a test cell in which there are a few drops of the respective test solution in a polished-in spherical recess of 0.25 mm maximum depth.
Testlösung I: Standardacetat pH = 4.6
Testlösung II: Natriumacetatpulver pH = 5.6Test solution I: standard acetate pH = 4.6
Test solution II: sodium acetate powder pH = 5.6
Tab. 5).Exposure to the test solution causes the glass surface to decompose select interference spots more or less quickly. To classify the Glasses are used at 25 ° C to form the first brown-blue color impact is needed. This change in color characterizes the chemical Change of the previously defined surface layer of 0.1 µm thickness, if the glasses can form layers at all (see table 5).
The stain resistance class FR 0 contains all glasses that are hours of exposure to test solution I show practically no interference colors.
Glasses that change color in less than 100 hours belong to them Classes FR 1-5, with glasses of class FR 1 being the slowest, glasses of Class FR 5 show the fastest staining.
Die Werte liegen also deutlich über der für ei ne kontinuierliche Produktion kritischen Grenze von 1000 dPas.The glasses according to the invention have an excellent crystallization state bility, which is a continuous production of glasses in larger enamel aggregates, e.g. B. in an optical tub. For example, show se glass No. 5 in the temperature range from 850 to 1020 ° C and glass No. 11 in the Be range from 830 to 1000 ° C, which in both cases has a viscosity range of 6000 to 350 dPas corresponds, no devitrification. For glass No. 12 this is Viscosity at the temperature of the upper devitrification limit 3200 dPas, at Glass No. 13 is 6100 dPas. The values are therefore significantly higher than for egg ne continuous production critical limit of 1000 dPas.
The glasses according to the invention are inexpensive to produce because of some expensive components can be completely dispensed with or their proportion can be kept low.
The PbO freedom of the glasses is not only due to the addressed environment protective idea of importance, but also positive in that in the Re gel the density of the glasses is lowered. In addition, the necessary ones have an effect Developments in the composition of the batch positively affect the "Län ge of the glass ", ie the size of the temperature range in which the glass can be processed from.
It is also advantageous that the glasses are not only PbO-free, but in a preferred embodiment also be As 2 O 3 -free.
