The invention relates to a method for producing jewelry with mind least a metallic decorative element, the decorative element at least is partially cast in epoxy resin so that the epoxy resin shape and Position of the jewelry element in the piece of jewelry stabilized and the outer shape of the piece of jewelry, at least substantially determined.
In practice, the most varied pieces of jewelry with jewelry elements knows and accordingly a variety of processes for their preparation. The processing methods used depend on the processing the material and last but not least according to the desired shape of the piece of jewelry.
The present invention provides a method of manufacturing jewelry proposed that include epoxy resin as a structural and shaping material.
In practice, epoxy resins are often used as coating resins. You will find In addition, use in the electrical industry as casting resins and binders for ge printed circuits, in engineering as embedding material, as part of adhesive fabrics and reinforced plastics. A use of epoxy resin in the Jewelry area - as proposed according to the invention - has so far been unusual.
In the publication "Jochen Wolters" The gold and silversmith "Volume 1 , Rühle-Diebener Verlag GmbH & Co KG Stuttgart 1981 " represents a "200-year needle" Darge, which consists of several pieces of jewelry, namely several made of metal manufactured stars, which are arranged on a circular arc around a face made of metal, and an epoxy resin part, which reproduces at least a part of the hair associated with the face in a stylized form.
US 5 259 101 deals with the manufacture of jewelry from thin Metal foils. In connection with beautification options for those from Me Jewelry made of tall foil is mentioned here the possibility of holes in the Burn foil.
In one of these two processes, jewelry elements arranged in a mold so that they at least area of the outer Form the surface of the casting and thus the finished piece of jewelry. By doing Another method is first of all about a positive mold made of wet plaster Poured a layer of hot melt glue and over the still called glue one drawn iridescent film. Due to the heat, this film pulls on the three dimensions sional surface smooth.
From DE 41 34 664 A1 a piece of jewelry is known which consists of a closed NEN or open annular metal body with a plurality along the Ringflä che distributed decorative elements.
The present invention has for its object a method of manufacture to specify pieces of jewelry with at least one jewelry element with which can be easily and reproducibly realized jewelry.
The method according to the invention solves the above object by the note male of claim 1. Then a breakthrough Me tall foil used as a decorative element. The metal foil is thus in the mold ordered that they cover at least areas of the outer surface of the cast body and ultimately forms the finished piece of jewelry.
According to the invention it was first recognized that epoxy resin can also be used for Jewelry making is suitable. Since the shrinkage is small when hardening, epoxy harden Resin products tension-free, do not tear and have high impact strength and Abrasion resistance. The overall visual impression of such a piece of jewelry is not affected by wear and tear. It is It has also been recognized that epoxy resin also works well with decorative elements can combine different materials, as it works well on most materials adheres and does not attack metal. Ultimately, epoxy resin is therefore also well suited for the production of jewelry, as it is both atmospheric influences also resists water, acids, alkalis, oil, petrol and benzene. Epoxy resin So neither attacked by weather nor sweat. Furthermore has been recognized according to the invention that epoxy resin is also very good at embedding of decorative elements, that is to say to decorate decorative elements, is suitable. Depending on the type of jewelry element, both the location and the Shape of the decorative element can be stabilized, so that, for example, very fili Let grane structures be integrated as decorative elements. After all, is fictional according to was still recognized that epoxy resin not only stabilizes and shape is applicable, but also has decorative qualities.
Particularly interesting decorative effects can be created using metalli achieve decorative elements in conjunction with the epoxy resin. You can NEN jewelry elements made of non-precious metals, as well as jewelry elements made of precious metal. A particular advantage of the invention The procedure in this context is that even the smallest quantities a precious metal, namely a metal foil provided with openings, are sufficient, to achieve a large-scale effect of this precious metal in the piece of jewelry. The metal foil only needs to be on the visible outside of the piece of jewelry be positioned. The position of the metal foil and its shape is then determined by the Epoxy resin stabilized. This can give the impression of a metal frame the, although it is actually - rather the other way round - the embedding of a metal film in epoxy resin.
Since epoxy resin is a pourable material, it becomes a through leadership of the inventive method proposed, first a Kon to produce reproductive molds of the piece of jewelry to be produced. The decorative element is then placed in the mold and with epoxy resin shed. The epoxy resin then hardens in the mold, being a cast body arises in which the decorative element is integrated.
There are different ways to make a mold, the Nega tivform corresponds to the piece of jewelry to be manufactured. In an advantageous variant is first of all the contours of the piece of jewelry to be produced Model produced, from which then a negative mold forming the mold becomes. A flexible impression material can advantageously be used for this purpose, such as an impression compound made of silicone rubber.
Depending on the material and geometry of the mold, it may be necessary To mold the mold with a release agent before pouring with epoxy resin. The The mold could be sprayed with a suitable release wax. Cast Molds made of silicone rubber or silicone are particularly advantageous because they are usually used here a release agent can be dispensed with.
Cold curing epoxy can be used in the process according to the invention resins are used that cure at room temperature and thereby a maintain acceptable strength and heat resistance. Particularly advantageous it is, however, if the casting which forms the piece of jewelry additionally or is subsequently subjected to heat curing. The cast body can do this be kept at a temperature of approx. 80 ° C for approx. one hour.
After removing the mold, it often makes sense to bil the piece of jewelry finishing the cast body mechanically. The cast body can, for example. deburred and polished.
The use of Epoxy resin based on bisphenol A is particularly advantageous. Such one Epoxy resin can be colored well with color essences. It can also be used for Room temperature, namely in a temperature range from 25 ° C to 35 ° C work. It is advantageous if the epoxy resin at a relative humidity of a maximum of 70% is processed. To avoid contamination in particular the other should be in the surface area of the piece of jewelry to be manufactured processing of the not yet hardened epoxy resin in a dust-free environment respectively.
Finally, it should be pointed out that the method according to the invention particularly advantageous for the production of a ring with a breakthrough provided metal foil as a decorative element. The metal foil is so in the Mold arranged so that it covers at least areas of the outer surface of the Cast body and ultimately forms the finished ring. With appropriate cut the impression of a metal ring can be created in this way of the metal foil, in which individual gemstones are embedded. In fact, it is around a ring-shaped epoxy resin body, in the outer surface of which with Breakthrough metal foil is integrated.
There are now several ways to teach the present invention advantageous to design and develop. This is on the one hand on the claims subordinate to claim 1, on the other hand to the successor to refer to the explanation of an embodiment of the invention.
In this variant of the method, a mold is first produced for the piece of jewelry posed. For this purpose, a model of the piece of jewelry is made, the model le diglich in size and external shape with the piece of jewelry to be produced must match. The model gives the positive shape of the jewelry to be made piece again. With the help of a flexible impression compound made of silicone rubber, this is possible Molded model, whereby the casting mold is created as the negative form of the model.
To produce a mold for a ring, the model is built up on the side and glued with a 2.5 to 3 cm thick disc. The ring is in a container laid flat down and with a silicone rubber, e.g. Elastosil, in Wed. ratio 9: 1, poured out. The silicone rubber can before pouring can also be vented under vacuum and only after a short rest in the Form to be poured out. After curing the silicone rubber and the Removing the model gives a precise negative impression of the ring and thus a mold for the ring.
Silicone rubber is especially suitable for reproductions from epoxy resin, as one high number of castings can be produced without the use a release agent would be required.
As already mentioned, the piece of jewelry should include a piece of jewelry. As be Metallic have been especially decorative in connection with an epoxy resin body Proven jewelry elements. As a decorative element, for example, one with a breakthrough Chen provided metal foil can be used. This is now po in the mold sitioned how it should be integrated in the piece of jewelry to be manufactured.
Before the mold can now be filled with epoxy resin, the ep oxide resin and the corresponding hardener mixed according to exact weight specifications become. Color essences can also be added. Epoxy resin, hardener and if necessary, the color essences are carefully mixed before use.
The service life of this mixture depends on the batch size and the Temperature history of the mixture. The larger the approach, the faster this must be consumed. Larger amounts of the mixture shorten due to exothermic reactions the open time. The mixture should then be placed in flat bowls be transferred to avoid heat build-up. In any case, it is quick Processing required. Smaller batches of less than 100 g can do that versus being used longer. The temperature in the mixing vessel rises noticeably and exceeds 40 ° C, the mixture can no longer be used for high-quality casting body can be used because uniform hardening is not guaranteed. Processing should therefore be in a temperature range between 25 ° C and 35 ° C respectively. In addition, the relative humidity should not exceed 70%. Cute Temperatures of the epoxy resin and cold mold surfaces extend the Processing, gelling and curing time. The reaction proceeds very well below 15 ° C brakes, it quickly comes to a standstill below 10 ° C. A complete Curing is only possible if the reaction is repeated at 20 ° C to 30 ° C is started. Higher temperatures accelerate the reaction. So it says with one Heating from 20 ° C to 30 ° C only half the processing time available.
When processing the not yet hardened epoxy resin, the room air should be as dust-free as possible. Filtering the supply air is only necessary if if intensive dust is emitted in the area. The mechanical processing The casting should therefore not be carried out in the same room as the processing processing of the not yet hardened epoxy resin. Isn't the spatial separation possible, there should be at least a temporal separation between the individual works be given steps, so that before processing the not yet given epoxy resin can be used to clean the working environment.
In this context it should also be noted that in the production of high quality cast body gloves should be worn to avoid any flaws to avoid inclination of the cast body in this way.
Before filling the mold with the jewelry element and the epoxy resin can the mold with a release agent, such as. B. a release wax, slightly sprayed be so that only a release agent film is formed on the wall of the mold. The jewelry element that is as fat-free as possible is now placed in the casting mold. There after the finished epoxy resin mixture is poured into the mold. By seitli If the mold is pressed, any air bubbles can be pushed out. The cold curing epoxy resin is now at a room temperature of 23 ° C to 25 ° C leave in the mold for at least 12 hours to harden. The one there resulting cast body already has an acceptable strength and Heat resistance.
B. polieren.Optimal properties result from additional heat curing. To the cast body is held at a temperature of about 80 ° C. for about an hour what can be done in a heating oven. After cooling the mold with the casting can be the casting that forms the piece of jewelry, the casting Remove form and rework mechanically, e.g. B. polish.
The single figure shows a ring 1 produced by the method according to the invention. The ring 1 comprises a metal foil 2 as a decorative element. It could either be a foil made of a non-precious metal or, in a particularly exclusive variant, also a foil made of a noble metal. The metal foil 2 is arranged around the outside of the ring 1 . It is provided with openings 3 , which, however, are only arranged in the central area of the ring surface. The position and shape of the metal foil 2 in the ring 1 is stabilized by the ring body 4 cast from epoxy resin, in the outer surface of which the metal foil 2 is embedded. This creates the impression of a metal ring with a multitude of gemstones set in metal when the ring is worn on the finger. In fact, however, it is a ring body 4 cast from epoxy resin, in the outer surface of which a metal foil 2 is integrated as a decorative element. From the single figure it can be seen that the outer surface is practically partly formed by the metal foil 2 and partly by the outer surface of the epoxy resin ring body 4 , while the inner surface of the ring 1 is formed exclusively by the inner surface of the epoxy resin ring body 4 . The structured metal foil 2 can only be recognized here by the transparent material of the ring body 4 .
