Description

The invention relates to the arrangement of a fuel tank and associated units, such as fuel pump, fuel filter, tank ventilation, pressure sensor, level sensor u. the like, especially in motor vehicles.

In previous motor vehicles, the arrangement of the Fuel tanks and related aggregates of the force system is comparatively complex because the aggregate gate mostly away from the tank and depending on the vehicle arranged at different locations on the vehicle depending on the space available in the respective vehicle.

In addition, the fuel tank must also be connected to the respective System to be adapted, depending on the arrangement appropriate System parts also different connections or connection configurations must be available on the tank.

The object of the invention is now to the assembly effort an arrangement of the type specified essential to diminish.

This object is achieved by an im Arranged tank, complete an assigned tank opening  the module, which is at least a part of the aggregates summarizes, especially those aggregates that lead to the outside Lines or connectors need these lines or connections are arranged or connected to the module.

The invention is based on the general idea, the inside space of the fuel tank to accommodate essential parts of the fuel system and the associated System parts to a pre-assembled and largely stan summarize the customizable module. Because the fuel tank in a motor vehicle typically on collision protection Th places is housed in the invention is compulsory a correspondingly protected accommodation of the assigned fuel system parts guaranteed. The on due to the invention theoretically to be accepted Ver reduction in the maximum amount of fuel that can be taken up by the tank can be neglected in practice because of the module possibly displaced fuel volume is very small.

A particular advantage of the invention lies in ver reduced assembly costs because of the module and accordingly essential parts of the fuel system completely prefabricated can be done. In addition, maintenance is combined fold.

Incidentally, the Er Find on the claims and the description below referred to a particularly preferred embodiment, the is explained with reference to the drawing.

Fig. 3 is a plan view of the top of the module accordingly to the arrow III in FIG. 1.

A in Fig. 1 only partially visible fuel tank 1 has in addition to a filler neck, not shown in the drawing, at its top a larger opening, which is arranged vertically above the deepest area of the tank bottom side, preferably at the top of a dome-like area 1 'of the tank top.

Below this opening, a swirl pot 2 is arranged in the tank 1 on the underside of the tank, which is preferably designed as a plastic part and is open at the top. The swirl pot 2 has a plurality of vertical walls 3 , which spirally enclose a central region 4 , so that fuel can flow into the central region 4 through the spiral channels remaining between the walls 3 and, on the other hand, rapid emptying of the central region 4 in the event of surge movements of the force is prevented.

In the top opening of the tank 1 in the area 1 'a vertically extending into the central area 4 of the Schlin gertopfes 2 module 5 is arranged, which tightly closes said opening in the installed position. The interacting parts of the opening and the module 5 can be formed out in the manner of a bayonet catch. The opening and the module 5 are preferably designed such that the module 5 can only be installed in a correct position.

The module 5 has an essentially columnar, tubular housing 6 with a larger window in the housing peripheral wall. In the lower part of the housing 6 , a fuel pump 7 is arranged with a suction port 8 projecting downward from the housing 6 and a pressure regulator 9 connected to the pressure side of the pump 7 , combined with the pump, via which the fuel pump 7 with the input of a fuel filter 10 is connected, which in turn is housed in the upper region of the housing 6 . A fuel line 11 leads from the fuel filter 10 through a cover part 12 , which is formed as part of the housing 6 and closes the tank opening.

On the cover part 12 , externally accessible electrical connections 13 are arranged, which are connected via electrical lines (not shown) to the electric drive of the fuel pump 7 or to signal connections of a level sensor 14 arranged in the housing 6 of the fuel tank 1 .

Otherwise, a venting arrangement 15 and preferably also a pressure sensor 16 are arranged on the cover part 12 , with which the tightness of the tank system can be checked if necessary, by placing the same under a certain excess pressure.

A protective cover 17 can also be arranged above the cover part 12 on the outside of the tank.

Deviating from the illustrated embodiment, the swirl pot 2 can optionally also be arranged on the housing 6 of the module 5 or connected to the housing 6 in one piece.

The module 5 shown can be used in virtually identical form for any fuel tanks 1 . In essence, only the vertical length of the housing 6 must be adapted to the respective tank 1 to ensure that the suction port 8 of the fuel pump 7 is arranged as far down in the tank 1 .

If necessary, a fuel heater can be provided in the module 5 - for example integrated in the fuel filter 10 - which can be electrically connected to the connections 13 .

Usually, the fuel pump 7 promotes more fuel than is required by the vehicle engine. The excess fuel delivered can be returned directly on the pressure side of the pump 7 , for example from a corresponding outlet of the pressure regulator 9 , in the Schlinger pot 2 . This eliminates the need for a separate return line to be arranged between the engine and tank 1 . In addition, a basically undesirable heating of the excess fuel by the engine is avoided with this type of construction.
