Hier fault der Schlamm aus, bildet Gase und lagert sich teils am Boden ab, teils bildet er eine Schwimmdecke. Die Öffnungen 0 sind so gebaut, daß die aufsteigenden Gasblasen oder Schlammfladen nicht wieder in das Absitzbecken zurücktreten können.
