■ 2051 — "Verfahren zur Herstellung von Profilen .■ 2051 - "Process for the production of profiles.
mit voller Dichte" v with full density " v
The present application relates to a method for the production of profiles - such as tubes, rods of various shapes and wires τ with full density from metallic flakes and i. .alIg. coarse fibers. In this description, the term “flakes” refers to bodies (particles) whose width is greater than their thickness and whose length is at least ao as large as the width, but usually still considerably greater. As an example, metallic chips are cited as they are used in machining, e.g. B. drilling, planing, turning and sawing, of compact or made of metal powder, porous parts. The term "fibers" means bodies (particles) whose length is large in relation to the cross section, the cross section being approximately round, oval or square. Examples of these bodies include: fine filings or sawdust, powders with an elongated grain shape, wire cuts. The surfaces of the fibers or flakes can be rough and cracked. The term "chips" is used below for all of these particle shapes.
B. when turning, sawing and Drilling blocks from high-alloy steels - drop large quantities of chips. The value of the machined material is considerable less than that of a compact piece of the same weight.
B. Rohre undSince the steelworks are very reluctant to use loose chips due to the large volume and the large burn-up, has already been looked for processing options to supply the chips to the melting process in a more favorable form. So was z. B. proposed to press the chips into packets or briquettes (DIiP 912 167, class 49c, (Jr. 15/02), to be entered in the ore bunker (DBP 853 757, Kl. 18a, Gr. 2/01) or to burn, with her Volume is greatly reduced (DBP 895 219, class 40a, size 15/60). According to another suggestion, the chips should be pressed and sintered and hot-pressed (Hoffmann, H.W., St.u.E. 66/67, 1947, P. 59/60). The manufacture of high quality products, e.g. B. pipes and

The invention is based on the object of cheap chips To produce full-density profiles, their properties are common that of the machined materials are superior.
According to the invention, the chips become blocks, preferably cylindrical Blocks, pressed, which expediently have a density of 60 dea compact material.
The blocks are then heated and hot, i. H. above the recrystallization temperature, to profiles of the desired Shape, e.g. B. to tubes or rods, extruded, the end cross-section being at most one third of the initial cross-section target. During heating and extrusion, oxygen must always be admitted be avoided.
The extruded products are further processed in a known manner, z. B, to wires or tubes of smaller dimensions.
Das Reduktionsmittel, i. aLlg. . D. Aufkohlung, Aufatickung, u. a.The pressed, still porous blocks are preferably subjected to annealing. If there are only easily reducible oxides (e.g. nickel, copper, soft iron), the annealing takes place in a reducing gas, e.g. B. hydrogen. With harder to reducible oxides, e.g. B. chromium oxide, is calcined under vacuum in the presence of a reducing agent. The reducing agent, i. general . This cleaning should be done in a degreasing bath, in which the foreign bodies are detached from the chip surface and fall to the bottom of the cleaning vessel. The cleaning not applicable »if the chips are only with fats, oils and others High temperature evaporating or disintegrating substances are contaminated.
In a further useful, but not always absolutely necessary process step, the chips are oxidized by annealing in air, e.g. B. 18/8 Cr / Ni steel chips, preferably 10 minutes at 800 - 1000 0 G. By annealing, the increase in hardness of the chips that occurs during machining is reversed made common and their further processing facilitated. The main effect of the w oxidation is that later, when the oxide layer is reduced, surfaces that are easy to react and sinter are created.
