Die bei vorliegender Erfindung zur Herstellung einer überwendlichen Naht zum Einfassen von Stoffkanten verwendeten Nähwerkzeuge bestehen aus einer Nähnadel a, einem Schlingenfänger b und einer Zungennadel c. Der Schlingenfänger bezweckt, den Nadelfaden unterhalb des Stoffes zu erfassen, nach der Stoffkante zu führen und ihn dort zum Durchstich der Zungennadel vorzulegen.The sewing tools used in the present invention to produce an overcast seam for edging fabric edges consist of a sewing needle a, a loop catcher b and a latch needle c. ίο Für Zweifaden-Überwendlichnähmaschinen ist es zwar bekannt, daß der Schlingenfänger die Nadelfadenschleife nicht bis zur Nähnadel heranführt, sondern nur um die Stoffkante herum und sie dort einem Schlingenleger zum Durchstich darbietet. Im vorliegenden Falle handelt es sich aber um eine Einfaden-Überwendlichnähmaschine mit Zungennadel zum Rand- und Saumnähen, bei denen eine derartige Arbeitsweise noch nicht bekannt ist. Die Tätigkeit der zur Verwendung kommenden Nähwerkzeuge ist aus den Fig. ι bis 4 ersichtlich. Der Schlingenfänger b schwingt von unterhalb der Stichplatte d nach oberhalb derselben; er ist seit-Hch und schräg zur Nahtrichtung gelagert. An der der Nähnadel zugewendeten Seite trägt er einen Backen e, welcher bezweckt, die Fadenschlinge zu erweitern, um den Durchgang der Zungennadel durch dieselbe zu erleichtern, sowie die Fadenschlinge so unterhalb an den Stoff zu legen, daß sich aus ihr zwei parallel zueinander liegende Fäden ergeben. Außerdem verhindert der Backen e das Abgleiten der Fadenschlinge f von dem Schlingenfänger b beim Aufwärtsschwingen desselben. Die Zungennadel c ist ebenfalls schräg zur Richtung der Naht gelagert. Die Stichplatte d ist mit einer Zunge g versehen (Fig. 5), auf welcher die Fadenverschlingung erfolgt und von welcher sich dann die Naht beim Vorschub des Stoffes, von selbst abstreift. Der Stoff wird gleichzeitig um eine Stichlänge vorgerückt.
