Description
The invention relates to a thermally activatable two-component diazotype material, consisting of a support and at least one, at least one diazo compound, at least one coupling component and light-sensitive ones optionally containing an acid as a stabilizing agent Layer.
It is known that diazo compounds, especially aromatic diazonium salts, are due to Let their photosensitivity be used for the production of photographic recording materials. This is because the diazo compounds lose their ability to interact with a coupling component when exposed to light to convert to a dye. It is believed that the diazo compounds at Implement exposure to light, the diazo group being replaced by a hydroxylated group. In contrast, the diazo compounds are not destroyed in the unexposed areas, so that they at the alkaline development of an image-wise exposed photographic material with the existing ones Coupling components can react to form a dye, with a positive Reproduction of the original is obtained.
The known photographic recording materials of the diazo type are either according to the known and customary wet (or semi-dry) processes or dry processes.
The wet process is used for recording materials which are light-sensitive in their Layer only one component, namely a diazo compound, optionally together with a stabilizer and other common additives, but not contain any coupling components. The exposed recording material is then treated with an alkaline solution containing a coupling component and a pH adjusting agent to form a dye developed in the unexposed areas. The developer solutions used have the disadvantage that they are usually corrosive and difficult to handle.
According to the dry process, recording materials are developed which are light-sensitive in their Layer one or more diazo compounds and one or more coupling components and preferably other conventional additives, e.g. B. acidic stabilizers contain. The development takes place in that the exposed recording material is exposed to an alkaline atmosphere, e.g. B. humid ammonia vapors. The dry process has over the wet process in itself numerous advantages, but suffers from the disadvantage that the storage of ammonia and the handling of the same causes problems.
Also in the process known from US Pat. No. 3,039,872, in which as coupling components aromatic s-triazinyl derivatives of the following general formula:
N NN N
A-C C-BA-C C-B
Die Entwicklungsverfahren unter Verwendung vonradical and B has the same meaning as A or a halogen atom, an amino or a hydroxy radical and where the triazine derivative is preferably condensed with a polymeric compound with elimination of the chlorine atom, must be alkaline for activation with alkaline vapors or an alkali-releasing agent be made.
The development processes using
Außerdem sind zahlreiche komplizierte Maßnahmen erforderlich, damit in den Entwicklungsvorrichtungen die Freisetzung des Alkalis in geeigneter Weise gesteuert werden kann.ίο corrosive developer solutions or harmful ammonia vapors have therefore been more and more replaced by processes in which thermal Activation alkali is released. The alkali-releasing agents can be used in one layer of the recording material as well as being used in the developing device. At the When heated, these agents decompose with the formation of alkaline substances and thereby dissolve the Coupling reaction off. So z. B. from 'ammonium carbonate, bicarbonate, acetate and formate when heated ammonia. Urea and thiourea derivatives are also used to release ammonia and organic amides are suitable. When using the known, alkali-releasing agents however, it is disadvantageous that they tend to crystallize out in the layer, which affects the shelf life of them containing recording materials severely impaired. Also, many are complicated Measures are required to ensure that the release of the alkali in the developing devices is appropriate Way can be controlled.
The object of the invention is to provide a photographic recording material of the diazo type, at the one that triggers the coupling reaction neither an alkaline atmosphere nor its own alkali-releasing atmosphere Means is required, which is also very storage-stable and can be activated by simple heating and whose photosensitive layer does not tend to crystallize out and is transparent and free from fog and is not sticky.
The invention is based on the finding that certain saturated s-triazinylthioketones and ketones without the use of additional alkali or alkali-releasing agents with diazo compounds to form dyes able to couple.
Der Gegenstand der Erfindung geht aus von einem thermisch aktivierbaren Zweikomponenten-Diazotypiematerial, bestehend aus einem Schichtträger und mindestens einer mindestens eine Diazoverbindung, mindestens eine Kupplungskomponente und gegebenenfalls eine Säure als Stabilisierungsmittel enthaltenden lichtempfindlichen Schicht, und ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es als Kupplungskomponente ein Tetrahydro-4-s-triazinon oder ein Tetrahydro-4-s-triazinthion der FormelThe subject matter of the invention is based on a thermally activatable two-component diazotype material, consisting of a substrate and at least one at least one diazo compound, containing at least one coupling component and optionally an acid as a stabilizing agent light-sensitive layer, and is characterized in that it is used as a coupling component a tetrahydro-4-s-triazinon or a tetrahydro-4-s-triazinthione of the formula

In the case of the coupling components used according to the invention, alkali is used for triggering the coupling reaction is probably superfluous because the saturated triazine derivative in the Heating is rearranged or reacted in such a way that the molecular structure formed resembles an alkali acts without this rearrangement of the coupling ability of the triazine derivative with a diazonium salt suffers.
The customary known diazo compounds can be used to produce the recording material according to the invention or diazonium salts can be used. These known diazo compounds are sensitive to light and stable at room temperature and with mechanical stirring. In an advantageous manner those diazonium salts are used which are soluble in water or other common solvents and which form the darkest possible dyes during development that contrast well with the background.
In besonders vorteilhafter Weise werden aromatische Diazoniumsalze, deren DiazogruppierungIt is particularly advantageous to use aromatic diazonium salts and their diazo groups

The recording materials of the invention can contain a wide variety of known supports. Depending on the intended use, paper and plastic foils have proven to be particularly advantageous when the copy received is to serve as a template again. In this case are particularly suitable transparent films obtainable from polymers, e.g. B. Films made of polyethylene terephthalate, Cellulose, cellulose triacetate, cellulose acetate butyrate, cellulose propionate, polycarbonates, Polystyrenes, polysulfones and polyphenylene oxides. However, there are also wood, metals, e.g. B. Steel, copper, zinc and aluminum, ceramic materials as well as glass and textile materials as carriers in Ask.
The diazonium salt, the coupling component, are used to produce the recording material according to the invention and optionally further additives mixed with the binder and in the usual and known manner applied to a carrier, for. B. with the help of scraper knives, air knives, rollers or by hand. The material is then dried. This way the layers become dry in the form of transparent endless films free from crystallization centers.
The photosensitive layer can be applied to the support in various thicknesses. As beneficial it has been found to coat the carrier material in such a way that per square meter of carrier surface about 0.107 to 32.3 g of dry photosensitive material are omitted.
The recording material of the invention becomes imagewise to produce an image or a copy by an original located between a light source and the sensitized recording material located, exposed. For example, light energy of a wavelength range is used for exposure from about 3500 to 4500 Å suitable. After exposure, the recording material is heated, whereby a dye image is formed in the unexposed areas; d. i.e., it will be a positive copy of the original receive.
Depending on the components used to produce the recording material, different development temperatures are suitable. Temperatures of about 93 to 204 ° C. have proven to be advantageous. The upper limit of the temperature range is mainly limited by the deformation and decomposition temperature of the support and the photosensitive layer. B. made of cellulose acetate, are particularly sensitive. The lower limit of the temperature range suitable for development results from the development time available, since the activity of the coupling component is lower at low temperatures.
The recording material of the invention has a very long shelf life. Even after long periods of storage it will the image quality practically does not deteriorate. In experiments to determine the stability, according to the invention Recording material with cellulose acetate as the carrier film for 3 days at 49 ° C and 35% relative humidity incubated, exposed and developed. It was found that the image obtained was of the same good quality as the image of a comparison material that was not incubated.
The invention makes photographic recording materials available that only need to be heated for the development of a latent image and that work through characterized by a particularly good shelf life, since the clutch components contained in them do not tend to crystallize out, so that the photosensitive layer remains clear and transparent.
The following examples are intended to explain the invention in more detail. Quantities mean parts by weight, unless otherwise stated.
A solution of 10 parts of cellulose acetate, 12 parts of methyl alcohol and 56 parts of acetone was prepared. 25 ml of this solution were admixed with 0.5 g of p-diazodiethylaniline zinc chloride, 0.5 g of cyclohexylsulfamic acid and 0.5 g of ln-propyl-tetrahydro-4-s-triazinthione. The mixture obtained was applied to a carrier film made of polyalkylene terephthalate in a thickness of about 0.076 mm, measured in the wet state, or in an amount such that about 16.2 g, calculated as dry weight, were per square meter of carrier surface. It was then dried at about 20 ° C. The dry layer was transparent, clear (haze-free), hard (not sticky) and free of crystallization centers. The resulting dried recording material was imagewise exposed through an original to a light source rich in ultraviolet light and passed through a conveyor belt developing device at a 10 second cycle over a heated drum. The temperature of the drum was maintained at 166 ° C. A positive copy of the original was obtained in the form of a brown dye image in the unexposed areas of good quality.
