Das hintere Ende des Unterkessels ist durch den in Fig. 3 veranschaulichten Rohrteil B geschlossen, während das Stirnende mit einer den Brenner D tragenden Wand E abschließt. Die in das Innere des Unterkessels geförderten Verbrennungsgase treffen überall wasser- oder dampfgekühlte Rohrteile und können dann senkrecht zur Achse des Unterkessels nach dem Oberkessel abziehen. Die den heißesten Gasen ausgesetzten Rohrteile des Unterkessels zeigen in den Ausbiegungen nach innen eine durch Stauchung etwas vergrößerte Wandstärke, was für die Haltbarkeit des Unterkessels von Vorteil ist.
