Description
Verfahren zur Erzeugung wärmegelierter plastischer Massen. Process for the production of heat-gelled plastic masses.
Plastic masses, preferably using organic binders with aggregates of inorganic or organic fillers granular or fibrous Structure, find extensive use for protection against moisture and corrosion or to improve certain physical or chemical properties of Carrier materials such as metal, fabrics, paper and others. Besides at room temperature chemically or physically drying plastic masses there are also those which be in the liquid, pasty or solid aggregate state and by heating or rewarming, by condensation, polymerization or physical swelling processes be converted into the desired final state.
The subject of the present invention is the production of heat-gelled plastic masses using particularly inexpensive raw materials. It has been found that anti-corrosive, heat-insulating, sound-insulating or vibration-damping ones can be used Coatings can be produced by using liquid to pasty at room temperature Tar products with preferably powdered plastic polymers in the way combined that a suspension or dispersion of the solid phase in the liquid Phase is reached in a known manner. However, it is required in everyone Case that the suspended or dispersed plastic polymer used in the liquid or pasty tar product insoluble and at normal storage temperatures Must be non-swellable and only at higher temperatures in the surrounding liquid Phase swells or dissolves in it.
Processes for the production of thermoplastic coatings are known, at what dispersions of plastic polymers in synthetic organic Liquids, e.g. B. plasticizers, use. Compared to these, the Coatings produced according to the invention have the advantage of higher resistance aggressive media as well as improved economy. It is also known Tar products, such as coal tar or bituminous substances, with plastic polymers to combine and then at above the melting point of the two components to boil away at lying temperatures.
Such methods mainly serve to remove the undesirable properties such tar and bitumen products, such as. B. Stress cracking or poor cold ductility to improve the finished pictures. The addition of larger amounts of polymer is difficult here, since the volatile one to achieve the liquid state of aggregation The proportion of solvents must be very high. Compared to using such coatings produced by plastic masses, the inventive method has the advantage that the plastic masses used are neither volatile solvents contained, even if the known plastic masses in solid aggregate state are available, heating must take place before use.
For the production of the necessary for the inventive method at the application temperature of liquid plastic masses, the procedure is that oin Liquid to pasty tar-like or bituminous substance with a substance in it cold insoluble and non-swellable plastic polymer, preferably powdery structure, first mixed in a manner known per se and, if necessary, then by means of a stirrer, homogenizing machine, pearl mill or similar. and, if applicable, with the attachment further granular or liquid fillers is suspended or dispersed. Even is the addition of the shading or after the creation of the plastic layers on the respective Adhesion-promoting additives are possible on the substrate.

Example 2A: 100% by weight. one liquid at temperatures above + 5 ° C to pasty bituminous petroleum residue (viscosity 400-700 cp / 30 ° C) of specific weight 1.01 and a distillatin residue at 360 ° of 85% are made with 25-30 "polyethylene polymer or mixed polymer as well as 100 "Jurassic chalk with the addition of suspending agents and wetting agents and adhesion promoters first mixed and then on a friction roller frame dispersed. This paste, which is pasty at + 2o C, is placed on a sheet of steel 1 mm thick applied and then using convection heat at 18o C during gelled over a period of 10 minutes. A thermoplastic coating of good cold ductility.
Those prepared according to the preceding examples and considered inventive Characteristic of the claimed process to be considered plastic masses result after Heat gelation a coating which, for example, provides good protection against corrosion on metals, good adhesive strength, excellent heat and sound insulation as well as vibration damping generated.
