KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
For the representation of substantive, sulfur-containing cotton dyes from the So far, azine derivatives have only been used which contain one or more hydroxyl groups or contain hydroxyl and amido groups at the same time. So is stated in the patent 120561 described that from the diamidooxydiphenylamine sulfonic acid by action from air or suitable oxidizing agents an amidooxyphenazinesulfonic acid is formed, which when fused with Sulfur and alkaline sulfur turn into a sulfurized dye, which is cotton stains black in bath containing sodium sulphide. Next is in the French patent specification 303107 it has been shown that oxyderivatives of azines, including those which in addition to one or more hydroxyl groups, they also contain amido groups when heated converted into violet to burgundy-colored sulfur dyes with sulfur and alkali sulfur can be.
About the behavior of such azine derivatives in the sulfur-alkali metal melt, which bezw without the simultaneous presence of hydroxyl groups, amido groups. substituted Contain amido residues, nothing is known so far.
Behandelt z. B. die Base des sogen. Toluylenrots, welcher die Formel:It has now been found that such amidated azines are valuable starting materials for the representation of sulfur dyes. Treats z. B. the base of the so-called. Toluene red, which has the formula:
(C H1), N,(CH 1 ), N,
Because of the poor solubility the base in the molten sulfur-sulfur alkali BEZW. However, it is polysulfide advantageous to first heat the base with sulfur alone and the reaction product thus obtained then continue to treat with sulfur alkali.
If you use its sulfonic acid instead of the toluene red base, which is obtained from the Base e.g. B. obtained by treatment with oleum, you can make the fusion with sulfur and alkali sulfur at the same time.
Neutralvioletts von der Formel:Analogous results are obtained if the base is used instead of the toluene red base of the so-called Neutral violets from the formula:
(CH3),(CH 3 ),
HN.2 HN. 2
verwendet, welches aus Nitrosodimethylanilinchlorhydrat und m-Phenylendiamin erhaltenused, which obtained from nitrosodimethylaniline chlorohydrate and m-phenylenediamine
Furthermore, you can also z. B. by oxidizing p-phenylenediamine together base formed with m-toluenediamine

ίο (Bernthsen und Schweitzer, Liebig's Annalen 236, 343) in oben gekennzeichneter Weise auf einen Substantiven, schwefelhaltigen Farbstoff verarbeiten.ίο (Bernthsen and Schweitzer, Liebig's Annalen 236, 343) in the manner indicated above to a noun, sulfur-containing Process dye.
Zur Erläuterung des Verfahrens dienen folgende Beispiele:The following examples serve to explain the procedure:
The temperature is gradually increased to about 230 0 , and heating is continued until no more unchanged toluene red can be detected in the melt, which is the case after several hours of exposure. The melt is then cooled to 170 to 180 °, 1875 parts by weight of crystallized sodium sulphide are added and it is brought to dryness at about 140 to 180 °.
The reaction product obtained can easily be according to the customary for sulfur dyes Methods used for dyeing cotton. The dye stains the vegetable fiber in brown, somewhat reddish tones. The colorations stand out due to excellent fastness properties in exposure as well as in laundry. Of the Dye also has a good leveling power. He lets himself on the fiber subject to usual post-treatment methods. By bichromate and acetic acid in the presence of vitriol, the fastness of the dyeings is increased without that the original shade is significantly changed. Hydrogen peroxide confers the coloration a redder tone, during post-treatment with nitrosamine a shift the shade of yellow.
■ 30 Teile Toluylenrotbase werden allmählich unter Kühlung in 120 bis 150 Teile Oleum von 23 Prozent Anhydridgehalt eingetragen.30 parts of toluene red base are gradually converted into 120 to 150 parts of oleum with cooling of 23 percent anhydride content entered.
After standing for several hours, the solution is heated to 50 to 60 ° and so long at this temperature is kept until a sample is completely dissolved in dilute sodium hydroxide solution dissolves. After cooling, the reaction mixture is poured onto ice and the precipitated one Filtered off sulfonic acid, washed and dried. It is a metallic, green, glossy powder that dissolves in water difficult, easily dissolves in alkalis and also alkali carbonates. From these solutions can they are precipitated again by acids.
Sie färbt Baumwolle in ähnlichen Tönen an wie der aus Toluylenrotbase erhaltene Farbstoff:22 parts by weight of the sulfonic acid thus obtained are gradually in a to about Heated molten mixture of 40 parts by weight of sulfur and 100 to 120 parts by weight, heated to 180 ° crystallized sodium sulphide registered. The temperature will then, gradually increased to 230 to 240 °. After several hours of heating, the dye is formed quit. The melt can easily be used for dyeing. It stains cotton in shades similar to that of the dye obtained from toluene red base:
Beispiel III.Example III.
Der hierbei resultierende Farbstoff ist jedoch farbschwächer.200 parts by weight of neutral violet (base) are introduced fairly quickly into 500 parts by weight of molten sulfur heated to 180 °. The temperature is then increased to 240 0 and heated until no more neutral violet can be detected in the melt. The melt is then added, after cooling, in 1,500 parts by weight to about 150 0 heated and molten sodium sulphide crystallized and the solution is brought at 140 to i8o ° to dryness. The dye obtained has a similar color to that obtained according to Example ι. An analogous procedure is followed when using the diamidomethylphenazine obtained from p-phenylenediamine and m-tolylenediamine. However, the resulting dye is weaker in color.
