While most of the bismuth salts known so far are of organic acids by dilute mineral acids, even by aqueous solutions of lactic acid are decomposed by the metal going into solution, show the basic · as well as neutral Bismuth salts of agaricic acid have a resistance to dilute mineral acids, such as it is characteristic of the bismuth salt of gallic acid (dermatol). This persistence of the agaric acids Bismuth salts are now permitted, as was further found, by the action of hydrohalic acids both in the double-basic salt (bismuth monoagaricinate) and in the single-basic salt (bismuth diagaricinate) to introduce halogen in place of bismuth hydroxyl. At first there are mixed ones halogen-like bismuth salts and only during further treatment with hydrohalic acids decomposition takes place with elimination of agaric acid.
Of these halogen-containing double salts, that of the simple-basic agaric acid is claimed Bismuth (bismuth diagaricinate) by the action of a molecule of hydrogen iodide resulting product of particular interest.
This bismuth oxyiodide agaricinate can also be obtained the other way around, namely by introducing the agaric acid residue into the bismuth oxyiodide by z. B. freshly precipitated bismuth oxyiodide by digestion with agaric acid to give bismuth oxyiodide agaricinate implements. This second method is safer to perform and provides a cleaner one Product of more beautiful color.
Es war daher nicht vorauszusehen, dafs dieThe organic bismuth oxyiodide compounds known so far (Airol, Ibit, Jodogallicin u. a.) are all derived from the gallic acid resp. the pyrogallol from; you will be either by the action of hydrogen iodide on the basic bismuth salts of the organic Acid or by combining the latter with bismuth oxyiodide. but halogen is successfully introduced into basic bismuth salts by means of hydrogen halide not with all organic acids, it is of a certain resistance to the bismuth salts dependent on dilute mineral acids. Thus basic bismuth salicylate disintegrates on exposure to the equimolecular amount Hydrogen iodide into free salicylic acid and bismuth oxyiodide. Nor is it general at all Property of organic carboxylic acids or oxycarboxylic acids to interact with bismuth oxyiodide connect to. For example, neither salicylic acid nor the Lactic acid represent iodobismuth compounds according to the usual method; in the first case there is no association at all between acid and bismuth oxyiodide, in the second case only when the water has evaporated completely does one obtain a mifs-colored, dark red-brown Product which is not a compound of iodine bismuth, since ether easily removes lactic acid from it leaving behind bismuth oxyiodide. It was therefore not foreseeable that the
Agaricic acid, an aliphatic oxycarboxylic acid, to provide a bismuth oxyiodide compound in the Would be able to.
The preparation of bismuth oxyiodide agaricinate is illustrated by the following examples:
Example I. For bismuth nitrate crystallized from 48.4 parts and 33 parts Agaric acid, freshly prepared and pressed, single-base agaric acid bismuth runs 12.8 parts of hydrogen iodide are added with stirring flow in an aqueous solution and support the reaction by gentle warming. the The white color of the agaric acid bismuth changes from brown to gray. The Product is then filtered off with suction, washed with a little water and dried under mild heat.

The reaction proceeds at a lower temperature, albeit slowly; it is completed in a few hours by digestion in the steam bath; the brick-red color of the mixture first changes to light chocolate brown, then to gray. As soon as the product has taken on a uniform light gray color, it is vacuumed after cooling, washed with a little water and dried on a gentle heat.
Instead of in an open vessel, the digestion can also take place in a suitable closed apparatus happen.
Die Darstellung des Wismuthoxyjodidagaricinats kann auch in der Weise ausgeführt werden, dafs man Wismuthoxyjodid im Augenblick seiner Entstehung auf Agaricinsäure bezw. deren Alkalisalze oder dafs man Jodwasserstoff imThe preparation of bismuth oxyiodide agaricinate can also be carried out in the manner that bismuth oxyiodide is used on agaricic acid or at the moment of its formation. whose Alkali salts or that one uses hydrogen iodide in the

Beispiel III. Example III. The solution of 48.4 parts of crystallized bismuth nitrate and 22.5 parts Sodium acetate in 17 parts of acetic acid is dissolved in an aqueous solution with vigorous stirring Solution of 16.6 parts of potassium iodide and 34.6 parts of neutral sodium agaric acid Infuse and support the reaction by gentle warming. As soon as the mass is the light gray Color has taken on, it is vacuumed after cooling and washed with water.
Bismuth oxyiodide agaricinate is a light gray amorphous powder that is insoluble in water. At ordinary temperature it is only slowly decomposed by water, more rapidly when heated; diluted acids and alkalis easily decompose it. When heated with concentrated Sulfuric acid develops iodine vapors with strong foaming.
The bismuth oxyodid agaricinate combined antihidrotic with astringent. and antiseptic effect and is therefore suitable its for the simultaneous treatment of the night tails and the affections of the stomach and intestines the phtisiker.
