Zur Prüfung von Polarisationsapparaten z. B. für die Untersuchung zuckerhaltiger Flüssigkeiten werden Normalquarzplatten von bekannten Drehungswerthen für monochromatisches polärisirtes Licht benutzt, welche an Stelle des Beobachtungsrohres in den zu prüfenden Apparat eingelegt werden, um festzustellen, ob das von der Scala des Apparates angezeigte Resultat mit dem Drehungswerthe der Platten genau übereinstimmt. Um die Scala an mehreren Punkten prüfen zu können, werden in der Regel Sätze von fünf solcher Platten von passend gegen einander abgestuften Drehungswerthen benutzt. Die einzelnen Platten solcher Sätze müssen gegen einander im Apparate auswechselbar sein, weshalb dieselben je in einem besonderen Einlagerohr gefafst zu sein pflegen. Die Controlsätze werden deshalb ziemlich compendiös und im Gebrauche, namentlich für Reisezwecke, ziemlich unbequem.For testing polarization devices z.
