PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
M 135472 KLASSE 57b. M 135472 CLASS 57b.
The generally known platinum process for photographic use essentially exists in the use of a light-sensitive one made from appropriate platinum salts Preparation which is applied to the copier paper to be produced. The first attempts to make platinotypes were based on the application of a salt, which the development of the image by means of hot Made solution necessary; However, images produced by this process have one pronounced brown sepia tone. Attempts have therefore been made to produce platinum paper, which made the development of the pictures possible in the cold way, and one achieved thereby also the much nicer and popular bluish tone. Since then, the most varied Recepte suggested for platinum paper, but without really nice, soft-toned images to surrender. The cause of these incompletely corresponding results has been hitherto always looked for in the chemical composition of the preparations used, without any the purely mechanical manufacturing process was further taken into account. So far will be namely, the papers consistently by painting the papers on one side with the corresponding one Saline solutions are produced, a process which is extremely dependent on the skill of the person applying the solutions is. On the one hand, this brushing method always requires an unavoidable additional consumption of preparation liquid, on the other hand What is inherent in the character of the solution itself, always bubbles form when it is applied their expulsion and achievement of a uniformly smooth surface the painting process must be very elongated. This, however, shows that the paper is attached to the The surface is softened too much, therefore the preparations are due to their specific gravity too deeply into the paper, while the fiber tips, which are the actual carriers ..! it should be a preparation, without a preparation remain, as a result of which the images produced on the paper take on a feeble character. Another factor to be taken into account is the great hygroscopic aspect Properties of the preparations and the thinness of the solutions. The latter causes that often during the stroke with the slightest draft or halfway unfavorable The preparations crystallize out under the conditions of temperature, while the crystals lightly absorb moisture from the air again and dissolve. In both cases it will Paper completely unusable.
But practical experiments have also shown that it does not concern the light-sensitive Layer on the paper surface forming solutions before their application mix, since then you will not get any useful results.
To remove these deficiencies of the known methods of production is the purpose of the present new procedure. This essentially consists in the fact that the surface of the paper to be prepared by means of suitable applicators one after the other with the corresponding salt solutions is coated,
wobei stets das Auftragen der späteren Lösung nach vollständigem Trocknen des vorhergehenden Auftrages erfolgt.always applying the later solution after the previous one has dried completely Order is carried out.
This application is best done by roller applicators, so many of them are available, to be applied to the paper as preparation solutions of various compositions are, and a drying device between each two such application devices any known type is switched on to the first applied preparation dry before applying the second.
The best way to do this is to run the paper over the Trough immersed rollers with or without a counter pressure device runs, so that the underside of the paper is prepared. This has the advantage that the specifically severe ones Body particles of the preparation solutions adhere more to the fiber tips, less soak yourself deep into the paper and thus form a completely smooth surface that at Using completely closed provides pure image depths.
The drying device behind the last application device is used The paper is fed to a satinizing device and finally rolled up or cut into sheets, so as to be put to use.
