Bei Schmelzöfen, in deren Schmelzraum mehrere Tiegel Platz finden, macht sich der Uebelstand geltend, dafs diese von der Hitze ungleichmäfsig beeinflufst werden, weil die Hitze durch gleichgrofse OefFnungen nach dem einseitig liegenden Abzugskanäle geführt und durch die dem Kanäle zunächst liegende Oeffnung stärker abgezogen wird, als dies durch die an den anderen Seiten befindlichen Oeffnungen der Fall sein kann. Es werden dadurch die dieser Oeffnung näher stehenden Schmelztiegel schneller erhitzt als die abseits stehenden. Durch die nachstehend beschriebene und durch die auf beiliegender Zeichnung dargestellte, an einem mit quadratischem Querschnitt versehenen Schmelzofen mit den die Tiegel aufnehmenden Schächten s angebrachte Einrichtung wird dieser Uebelstand dadurch beseitigt, dafs die in den Abzugskanal a bezw. in den in bekannter Weise angeordneten Zwischenkanal k mündenden Oeffnungen ο ungleich grofs gestaltet sind, und zwar hat die dem Abzugskanal a am nächsten liegende Oeffnung den kleinsten, die seitlich befindlichen OefFnungen einen mittleren und die dem Abzugskanal entgegengesetzte Oeffnung ο den gröfsten Querschnitt erhalten.
