Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
There are already board games for chess, checkers, mills, dominoes and the like. Known in which keep the pieces or stones sticking to the fields of the game board by magnetic action so that there is no overturning or shifting due to jolts or vibrations the figures or stones can enter. In such board games either the fields are of the board designed as magnetic surfaces and the base of the stones or figures consist of iron, or the latter form the magnets and the whole board surface forms one non-magnetic sheet iron plate. As is well known, however, steel magnets are gradually losing their strength more or less if they are not constantly at anchor. These The magnetic force is also weakened in the above-mentioned board games over a longer period of time Not in use.
Therefore, in order to keep the magnetic force constantly in the same strength, the game board is after The present invention is set up as can be seen from the drawing. In this Fig. 1 shows a part of a chess or checkers board in the basic pattern, Fig. 2 shows a Cross section, while Fig. 3 shows a game figure in vertical section.
The board consists of two foldable, by hinges with interconnected parts, and in each of the 64 squares a smaller horseshoe magnet m in FIG. 2 apparent in cross-section manner so inserted, the two pole DAF performing leg ends NS in the plane of the The magnets are arranged on the fields in such a way that poles of different names are opposite each other everywhere. If the board is folded up, unequal poles come to lie opposite one another everywhere, so that the magnetic force is maintained. The magnets m are secured in their position by the floor board b; the two halves of the board hardly need a special lock, since the magnetic effect replaces one. The figures respectively. Stones α (Fig. 3) have a base made of soft iron or consist entirely of this metal.
Claims (1)
Patent-An saying:
Collapsible game board, the board surface of which contains horseshoe magnets in the individual fields to hold the pieces made of magnetizable material, characterized by the arrangement of the magnetic poles on the two halves of the board, in such a way that poles of different names face each other after folding, so that the existing magnetism is preserved and the board is kept folded.
