Beim Herstellen von Profilen durch Stranggießen und anschließendes Walzen auf die endgültige Querschnittsgestalt ist es bekannt, zunächst durch Stranggießen einen Rohling mit etwa rechteckigem Querschnitt herzustellen, diesem Rohling dann in einem ersten Walzgerüst einen der späteren Endgestalt ähnlichen Querschnitt in größerem Maßstab zu geben und anschließend in weiteren Walzdurchgängen den Rohling auf den gewünschten Querschnitt herabzuwalzen.
