The one-piece rings of common scissors and grippers are
often inconvenient to use when it comes to putting them in cutlery, cases and
To place cases. The inventor meets this difficulty by removing the rings
several parts connected by joints. These broken rings will settle
easily together and can just as easily be brought back into the ring shape; merged
they take up little space and are easy to store in cases.

Links b and c are attached to each of the arms α and are again connected by link d to form a complete ring.
The limbs are rounded off as much as possible on the inner side so as not to get annoyed when using the scissors. The links are connected by means of a cord. The handle α has a pin e which fits into the opening / of the link b ; this carries a pin g at its other end. At the end of α there is a slot h in which the pin i of the link c engages, which has the slot j at its other end. Finally has. the link d the two slots k and /. The links c and d are connected by means of a small intermediate piece m , the ends of which are provided with pegs which fit into the slots / and /.
The same division of the rings into joints, with a slight modification, as in FIG. 4
shown is applicable to grasping forceps and other similar instruments.
