Description
Method of making a layered material, in particular Wood-based The invention relates to a method of making a layered material with at least one outer surface consisting of a sheet metal plate, preferably made of light metal, and which is placed against a softer, more porous surface, for example veneer, laminated wood, plywood, particle board, wood fiber board Od. The like., Is glued and experience a processing that improves the connection effect Has.
Layered material made from one glued to a sheet of plywood There is light metal sheet is known per se. This also applies to layered items Material made of wood or synthetic resin with a reinforcing and thermally conductive core consists of perforated sheet metal. These materials are by proportion high flexural and buckling stiffness and are related to impact loads relatively insensitive.
A method has become known in which the surface is electrolytically Paths made porous or cracked and immediately after the electrolytic treatment a plastic adhesive is applied, whereupon the connection with the base takes place. Here, the shape of the surface is completely retained, and an influence on the The surface of the counterpart to be connected with the film (base) is not possible and not intended. So it occurs in the electrolytically treated Surface of the film at most pore-like or crack-like depressions into which the Adhesive penetrates, which results in better adhesion to this surface will. There is no further effect. It is also an elaborate one electrolytic plant required.
The object of the invention is an essential one without this effort Improvement not only of the adhesive bond, but of the entire type of connection as to achieve such. One solution was for a method of the aforementioned Kind found in that the sheet metal plate with slight waves, a grain pattern or another pattern is provided and after applying an adhesive on both surfaces are exposed to a pressure pressing them against each other, which is so large that the waviness or the pattern of the sheet metal plate in the veneer or other surface penetrates and a constant material deformation in this causes, the pressure, which expediently exceeds 15 kg / cm2, maintained for so long until the adhesive layer has hardened.
The invention thus goes a new way and creates next to one Surface enlargement at the same time a mechanical interlocking of the surface to some extent. The deformations in the aluminum surface that appear in the veneer surface are pressed in with permanent deformation, their extent can be approximately perpendicular to the surface be 0.1 to 0.5 mm, whereby an anchoring in the veneer surface to some extent is achieved. Thus, the novel connection is not based only on the adhesive bond, but also on a certain form fit between the metal plate and pad. The waviness or the pattern of the light metal surface results also, as already indicated above, a surface enlargement and thus an enlargement the surface receiving the adhesive and thus also one from this side better adhesive adhesion.
According to a further development of the invention, metal plates of the aforementioned Type attached to each side of the veneer, etc. panel, and here the Metal sheets all with grain-like elevations or some other pattern be provided on both sides.
It is advisable to use an adhesive that is phenolic, Resorcionol or carbamide type, where the adhesive is applied to the wood fiber or plywood etc. surface is painted while the metal surface after being degreased and has been roughened, for example with a lye solution pickled or blown with sand, coated with a kasain latex composition. will. Under certain circumstances, the sheet metal plate pretreated in this way can be used after the aforementioned Composition has dried, can also be smeared with the same type of glue like the wood fiber etc. surface.
Instead of the adhesive of the type mentioned above, one can also use so-called Use contact adhesive, which is based on natural rubber or based on a synthetic one Rubber product, for example neoprene rubber, is made. In this case it will be the two surfaces to be bonded after cleaning and any sanding or Blown with sand coated with the mentioned contact adhesive. Finally can an epoxy type adhesive may also be used, which in certain cases a very durable joint can be obtained.
The drawing shows an embodiment of the layered material according to the invention, wherein F i g. 1 shows a larger piece of a veneer disc 1, which is provided on both sides by means of light metal sheet coverings 2 and 3, the have a grain-like pattern. In the example shown, it is assumed that that a contact-type adhesive has been used and that the lower sheet light metal plate 3 has already been attached to the lower side of the veneer panel, while the upper sheet light metal plate 2 not yet fully pressed against the veneer surface has been, but that another corner 4 of the sheet in a slightly raised state located.
In Fig. FIG. 2 shows a detail of the layered material according to FIG. 1 shown after full compression. As shown in FIG. 2 shows, the waves or the grains on the inside of the light metal plates 2, 3 have been pressed into the wood fiber board 1 by the pressure, causing an existing deformation.
According to the method according to the invention, a layered material is obtained received, contrary to what the gluing technician might have expected, actually has great strength and indeed greater strength in the glue lines Adhesive strength in the joint possesses than a similar plate made of layered material the same panel size, because the effective area of the adhesive joint due to the deformation of the fiber material has been enlarged and because also due to the wavy or grain-like surface of the adhesive joint, the layer material of the invention has a larger Buckling and flexural strength is retained as the known layered materials.
In the following, the method according to the invention as well as that according to The layered material obtained according to the invention is explained in more detail by means of some examples.
Example 1: A board made of birch plywood is cleaned and sanded and is provided with a phenol-type adhesive on both sides. The painting Using the glue can either be done by hand, either by means of a spatula or done with a brush or by machine using distributor rollers. The two in plywood surfaces pretreated in this way are now covered with light metal sheets, which have been provided with a grain pattern on both sides. The surfaces of the two light metal sheets facing the plywood are treated as follows. They are first degreased, for example with the help of a weak alkali solution, and they will point out using it if necessary Sand blown if the pickling obtained by the mentioned solution does not have a should achieve sufficient grit for adherence. The faces made in this way have been pretreated, are then treated with an appropriate casein-latex composition painted, for example with the help of a brush. After this composition has dried has been and thus represents a firmly adhering layer to the metal sheets the light metal sheets pretreated in this way against the adhesive ones not quite dried adhesive surfaces of the plywood pressed. On the other hand, the casein latex layer be coated with a phenolic adhesive layer before the bonding surfaces are brought together. After the adhesive surfaces have been pretreated in this way, the light metal sheets and pressed the veneer sheet together in a press under such a high pressure, that the grain-like pattern of the two light metal plates in both side surfaces of the plywood create an existing deformation, which is partly the adhesive surface of the Joint enlarged, partly extremely good strength properties of the finished Layer plate gives. The pressure is adjusted to the hardness of the birch plywood. A useful print for average quality birch plywood is around 20 kg / cm2. A slightly lower pressure can be used for pine plywood. Around 15 kg / cm2 is a suitable value here.
Zweckmäßige Körnermusterung des Leichtmetallbleches ist je nach der Dicke der Schichtplatten, die hergestellt werden sollen, und je nach der Deformation der Mittelschicht, die zugelassen werden kann, 0,1 bis 0,5 mm.Appropriate grain patterning of the light metal sheet is depending on the Thickness of the laminated panels to be manufactured and depending on the deformation the middle layer, which can be allowed, 0.1 to 0.5 mm.
A board made of wood chips is placed on one of the The side is cleaned and sanded and is covered with a neoprene-type adhesive Mistake. When spreading the glue you can either use a spatula or you can let the chipboard move between distributor rollers. The chipboard surface, which has been treated in this way should now be provided with a light metal sheet, that has a grain-like pattern. The sheet metal plate is now on the against the Chipboard facing side cleaned using a degreaser, for example carbon tetrachloride, trichlorethylene or a five percent lye solution. In this case, the work must be done under a vent arrangement. To After degreasing, the metal surface is roughened, for example by blowing with it Sand, and then apply a neoprene-type adhesive. After the both on the chipboard has dried like the adhesive spread on the metal plate - this should be done so far that the surface does not stick to the fingers - will the two surfaces merged, it being important that the two surfaces have been centered in relation to each other from the start. After the two surfaces provided with adhesive have been put together, the laminated board becomes placed under pressure, the compressive pressure being so great that the grain pattern of the light metal sheet into the chipboard with deformation of the surface of the same is pressed. In this case, too, the appropriate pressure is 15 to 20 kg / cm2.
