Das zu einem Rohr 2 zu formende flache Band 1 wird durch eine Platte 3 hindurch gezogen, die mit einem ovalen Loch 4 versehen ist. Das derart vorgebogene Band passiert darauf den Spalt zwischen einem Dorn 5 und einer Führungshülse 6 und wird dort bis zum Überlappen der Ränder rundgebogen. In der Führungshülse 6 ist eine mit Verzahnungen 10 versehene Rolle 7 drehbar gelagert. Gegen die Außenseite des Rohres drückt eine Rolle 8, die gegenüber den Zähnen 10 der Rolle 7 umlaufende Nuten 9 aufweist.
