Description
Method for mixing polyvinyl chloride powder with elasticizing Synthetic Resins The invention relates to a method for mixing polyynyl chloride powder with one the impact strength and impact strength of the material made from it - Resin that increases objects, such as natural or synthetic rubber, chlorinated polyethylene or copolymers of butadiene with syrene.
It is known that plastic objects made from rigid polyvinyl chloride even at room temperature, but especially at temperatures around 0 ° C and below proportionally are brittle and fragile. It has therefore been proposed to increase the impact resistance and to increase the impact strength of such articles in that the as Polyvinyl chloride powder used as the starting material with an addition of synthetic rubber is mixed. The mixing takes place in a rolling mill between the hot rollers, whereby the components to be mixed are converted into a plastic state. However, there are considerable difficulties involved. However, it is not possible to mix the components in powder form and cold, because the above-mentioned elasticizing synthetic resins do not grind into a fine powder permit.
Another known proposal is that the polyvinyl chloride powder a chlorinated polyethylene is added. Mixing also took place initially by means of hot rollers, but those known from mixing rubber were used Difficulties emerge to an even greater extent because the chlorinated polyethylene is a sticky plastic mass is very difficult to achieve on an industrial scale handle is.
To avoid these difficulties, another is known Process has been developed, which is dissolved in an organic solvent chlorinated polyethylene, d. H. in a solution form as used in its manufacture is obtained, is mixed with an aqueous dispersion of the polyvinyl chloride. That organic solvents and the water contained in the dispersion is then removed.
It has now been found that mixing the polyvinyl chloride powder with the elasticizing ones that increase the impact strength and notch impact strength Synthetic resins can be carried out without the difficulties arising in the known processes is. According to the invention, the elasticizing resin is used as an aqueous emulsion or dissolved in an organic solvent in the polyvinyl chloride powder in fine distribution with leading, preferably injected heated air stream. The elastic synthetic resin remains in finely divided form in the polyvinyl chloride powder. The amount of resin injected depends on the intended use. For example, for objects that must have a certain hardness, z. B. for pipes, less than 10 percent by weight and for high-impact products, such as plates or other shaped bodies, about 10 to 30 percent by weight are used. That Mixture is continuously from a downstream of the injection device Separator removed and can then in a known manner to objects of any shape are further processed.
Acrylic esters, for example, can be used as elasticizing synthetic resins as a 400% aqueous dispersion or polychloroprene as a 500% aqueous latex be used.
The air flow, for example, can be used to carry out the method with the polyvinyl chloride powder are passed through a chamber into which the elasticizing synthetic resins are injected horizontally. The impregnated Polyvinyl chloride powder then falls to the floor therein and is discharged from the chamber.
The invention will be explained in more detail with reference to the following exemplary embodiments explained: 1. Commercially available polyvinyl chloride powder, expediently already with one mixed with a suitable stabilizer, is fed to a nozzle in such a way that 980 g / h be enforced. Immediately next to this solids nozzle is located a second nozzle for the resin to be injected, which is against the first in one inclined at a small angle so that the two atomize each other Currents Mix intensively shortly after the nozzle outlet openings. The second nozzle will with the aid of a metering pump with a 500% aqueous polychloroprene latex fed that 98 g of latex are enforced per hour. The latex is turned into a Injected chamber in which the powder coated with polychloroprene falls to the floor and taken from time to time. After drying, the product contains 5 percent by weight Polychloroprene based on polyvinyl chloride. The dry and with a stabilizer provided powder is processed as usual on a screw press. The material then has an impact value (according to DIN 53453) of 8.5 cm kg / cm2 (mean values of ten samples) compared to about 4.5 cm kg / cm2 of pure hard polyvinyl chloride with the corresponding Processing.
The tensile strength according to DIN 53455 is 490 kg / cm2 compared to a Value of 550 kg / cm2 of corresponding rigid polyvinyl chloride.
In a corresponding manner, a mixture of polyvinyl chloride with 10 percent by weight of polychloroprene by spraying the compo- nenten in the necessary Relationship established.
The finished product after processing in the extruder has the following Test data: notched impact strength 11.5 cm kg / cm2; Tensile strength 465 kg / cm2.
