Seit langer Zeit ist man bestrebt, die auf manuellem Wege hergestellten Zurichtungen der Buchdruckchliches durch auf photochemischem Wege hergestellte Reliefs zu ersetzen. Es wurde zu dem Zweck vorgeschlagen, von dem zuzurichtenden Cliche einen Abdruck auf transparentes Papier zu machen, nach welchem durch Copiren auf eine photographische Trockenplatte ein Negativ hergestellt wurde, welch letzteres dann als Copirmatrize zur Herstellung des Reliefs mittelst des Pigmentdrucks diente.
