Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
In the manufacture of acetone, the so-called by-products are used. Acetone oils obtained which contain the higher homologues of acetone and as a result of them extraordinary disgusting, burning smell cannot be used for purposes similar to acetone although their other properties would make them suitable for this purpose. The burning-smelling products cannot be removed by fractional distillation will. The purpose of the present procedure is to remove the objectionable odor from the acetone oils free and usable for those purposes for which the odor has been a nuisance close.
Salzsäure gemischt wird, was z. The procedure. consists in the action of hydrochloric acid under normal atmospheric pressure on the acetone oils. Hydrochloric acid is called under normal atmospheric pressure by being mixed with the constituents which are the carriers of the odor, reacts, and produces a characteristic red color in the acetone oils the removal of the odor. The phenomenon is mainly caused by hydrochloric acid, which contains little water. The procedure can be carried out in such a way that that the acetone oil with 1 to 10 pCt. its weight in cone. Mixed hydrochloric acid becomes what z. B. can be done by shaking. One separates after the mixture It was left to rest for some time that the specifically lighter oils were derived from the heavier hydrochloric acid and cleans the oil by distillation. A second distillation is recommended to be carried out over burnt lime, caustic alkalis or the like, in order to remove the excess To remove acid and any coloring substances that may have passed over. One can also use gaseous ones Introduce hydrochloric acid into acetone oil and, after it has been in the oil for some time If it has remained in contact, distill, followed by a second distillation over lime. etc. follows. That OeI treated with hydrochloric acid gas can also be washed with water and after Separation from the aqueous layer to be distilled.
.The amount of acid to use depends on the amount of impurities present away. The proportions given above have proven to be those for practical execution of the method shown suitable. .
Bei dem aus der Patentschrift 8343g bekanntenThe present method differs from that known from patent specification 8343g by using hydrochloric acid under normal atmospheric pressure. As a result In the present process, this is the conversion of the homologues of acetone in chlorinated compounds, which cannot be used for the purposes for which acetone is used, avoided. In the one known from patent specification 8343g
Process the higher homologues of acetone are lost, while they are lost in the present Procedure can be won. In the present process it is therefore possible to use the homologues of acetone close. The raw product of the acetone preparation can thus be obtained according to the present process be fully exploited.
