Description
Disinfecting textiles in hospitals and communal accommodation and the like there is regularly the problem of thorough disinfection of woolen blankets, Clothing and other textiles. For this purpose z. B. fumigation applied with formaldehyde vapor. In order to save time and money, it has However, it has proven to be useful to disinfect with simultaneous cleaning to couple the textiles. However, the textile materials in question are usually not subjected to cleaning in an aqueous liquor, which is why it is practical only cleaning with the help of organic solvents (dry cleaning) is possible comes.
The coupling of cleaning and disinfection of textile goods in organic Solvents is known per se. The process is carried out with the addition of formaldehyde carried out to the organic solvents, but required because of the textiles Adhering pungent formaldehyde odor a subsequent neutralization bath based on ammonia. In practice, however, it has been found that if this post-treatment is carried out carefully, subsequent unpleasant odors not always be avoided. In addition, the separate follow-up treatment is available in the With regard to the time and effort required and the increased wear and tear of the textiles another disadvantage of the known method.
It has now been found that textiles can be used in organic solvents can be disinfected properly with simultaneous cleaning if the chemical cleaning common solvents or solvent mixtures, for example chlorinated hydrocarbons, gasoline or the like, ß-propiolactone added. Of the The ß-propiolactone content of the liquor should be about 0.5 to 10 g / l. Normally with additions of 1 to 3 g / 1 a completely satisfactory disinfection result achieved. By using the liquor at an elevated temperature, the disinfecting effect becomes improved.
The cleaning liquors are used to improve the cleaning effect appropriate usual cleaning enhancers, z. B. anion-active or non-ionic surface-active Substances and possibly small amounts of water added.
A particular advantage of the proposed method of operation is that that a post-treatment of the textiles z. B. in the form of a neutralization bath completely is unnecessary. Odor nuisance or other undesirable side effects do not occur when using ß-propiolactone.
Als Desinfektionsmittel besitzt ß-Propiolacton eine erhebliche Wirkungsbreite. Es ist wirksam gegen Bakterien, z. B. M. aureus, E. coli, Ps. aeruginosa; Sporen, z. B. von B. anthracis, Cl. sporogenes; Myco-Bakterium tuberkulosis; Viren, z. B. Pockenvirus, Gelbfiebervirus,_Psittakosevirus, sowie Pilze. As a disinfectant, ß-propiolactone has a wide range of effects. It is effective against bacteria, e.g. B. M. aureus, E. coli, Ps. Aeruginosa; Spurs, z. B. from B. anthracis, Cl. sporogenes; Myco-bacterium tuberculosis; Viruses, e.g. B. Smallpox virus, yellow fever virus, _Psittakosevirus, and fungi.
So tötet z. The bacterial effect of - ß-Propiolactons in aqueous solution is known. Its effect in organic solvents is surprising, however, when it was known that in aqueous solution effective disinfectants in organic Solvents often fail. So kills z. B. a 1% aqueous solution of 1,3,5-chloroxylenol M. aureus or E. coli from germ carriers in about 30 to 60 minutes, while a solution of the same concentration in perchlorethylene the same germs under analogous Conditions cannot kill even in 360 minutes. That as a disinfectant known ß-phenoxy-ethyl-dimethyl-dodecylammonium chloride is against both types of germs also quickly effective on germ carriers if the product is applied in aqueous solution will. Solutions of the same concentration of the agent in perchlorethylene kill both Species of germs do not disappear even in 360 minutes. H. T. S c h w a r z -k o p f and I. T r e u h o f f report in the magazine »Wascherei«, 11/1962, pp. 339 to 343, the unsuccessful or unsatisfactory use of p-oxydiphenylmethane, p-chloro-o-benzylphenol, Pentachlorophenol, diphenyl sulfide, 2,2'-dioxy-5,5'-dichlorodiphenyl sulfide and 2,2'-dioxy-3,5,6-3 ', 5', 6'-hexachlorodiphenylmethane as disinfectant additives in perchlorethylene. Of these connections, however, is also known to be effective in aqueous solutions.
The experiments below demonstrate the effectiveness of the claimed ones Middle.
Laboratory experiments After sterilization in the autoclave, pieces of woolen blanket about 1 cm2 in size were infected by placing them in an about 16-hour-old broth culture of M. aureus (pre-cultivation at 37 ° C.). After 15 minutes, the germ carriers were removed from the culture and the excess broth was stripped off. The germ carriers were then dried at 30 ° C. for 24 hours and then conditioned for 2 days at a relative humidity of 500 ° C. at 20 ° C.
