Description
Drying Device for Films The invention relates to a drying device for films with a drying chamber through which the film to be dried is passed and in which there is an air supply arrangement in the vicinity of the film outlet opening is located, through which the film surface with a directed against the growing film Air jet can be acted upon.
Drying devices of the aforementioned type are state of the art. With the help of the air jet, the liquid layer adhering to the film surface is supposed to be be blown away.
According to the invention it is now proposed that guide plates in the drying chamber to attach, which the still wet film against the rebounding from the film surface, screen charged with liquid and an outlet opening inflowing air flow.
This baffle ensures that the film is already removed detached liquid cannot precipitate again on the film and the Detachment of the liquid layer adhering to the film essentially without evaporation he follows. Through the baffles, the air flow is separated from the one with a layer of liquid provided film surface deflected outwards, causing greater evaporation effectively preventing the liquid layer that could occur when the Airflow could sweep along the wet film surface. One with the invention The film treated with the drying device is therefore characterized by a spot-free surface.
The invention will now be described in more detail with reference to the drawing.
The drying device 40 shown in the drawing consists of a drying chamber 100 which is formed by side walls 102 and walls perpendicular thereto (not shown). To make it easier to insert the film, one wall of the drying chamber 100 can be hinged open. The film strip 22 runs through an entrance slot 106 into the chamber 100. In the immediate vicinity of the exit slot, air nozzles 108 fed by a multi-stage fan are attached in such a way that a strong, warm air stream hits the film at high speed in a direction opposite to the direction of travel of the film. This direction of impingement is shown in the drawing by lines a. When this air stream hits the wet film at a certain angle, it strips the liquid layer from the film surface, so that a liquid mist is created. This liquid mist generally follows the flow lines in the chamber 100. In order to prevent this liquid mist from coming into contact with the film again, baffles 110 and 112 are attached one behind the other at the points in the chamber 100 remote from the air nozzles. The air flow with the solvent droplets is deflected by the baffles 110 and 112 along the flow lines b, c and d. The air laden with the stripped liquid is then discharged from the drying chamber 100 through outlet channels 114. For faster removal of the air from the drying chamber, pumps are connected to the outlet openings 114 , which suck off the air flow.
Usually the air jet should be at an acute angle of about 15 to 75 °, preferably from 30 to 50 °, impinge on the film when an air speed of 300 to 3000 m per minute and a film speed from about 3 meters per minute to over 100 meters per minute. At a such a procedure per minute and per cm of film width about 0.1 to about 1 m3 of air sent through the air nozzles. If you work within these limits, then the liquid layer is removed directly from the film surface by the air jet torn away and essentially completely removed. The liquid then arrives as mist in the air stream and the film is complete after the air jet hits it dry, but also completely clean, as the dirty liquid does not evaporate has taken place on the film surface.
The inclined metal sheets 110 and 112 should form an angle between 15 to 75 °, preferably between 35 to 55 °, with the film surface. For the ranges of film speed, air jet speed and amount of air given above, the best results are obtained with an angle of 45 °. The distance between the guide plates 110 and 112 and the film must be such that the film cannot touch the plates and in this way the film is prevented from being scratched. In the case of the drying device according to the invention, this is further ensured in that essentially the same air pressure is exerted on the two sides of the film. The width of the guide bleaching openings is approximately 0.5 to 1.2 mm, preferably 0.75 to 2.5 mm, and depends on the film speed, the speed of the air flow and the type of liquid.
Condensers can be used to recover the liquid. However, as will be explained later, this amount of liquid is so small that it is hardly significant. Depending on the film width and film speed used, the total length of the drying chamber from nozzles 108 to entry slot 106 is approximately 50 to 200 mm. The width of the drying chamber 100 is dimensioned such that the desired film width (up to 90 mm and more) can be processed. The height of the drying chamber can be approximately 25 to 130 mm and more. In general, the baffles extend across the drying chamber and are closed at the edge by the walls of the drying chamber. Various shapes can be used for the baffles, but an appropriate shielding of the film and a suitable deflection angle of the air flow must always be ensured.
To achieve the above results with dry cleaning In order to be able to do so, the film must be pretreated in a suitable manner. For example Air nozzles can be placed in front of the drying chamber, which form the main part of the Remove any liquid adhering to the film surface. However, these air nozzles must be adjusted in such a way that there is still a residual on the film surface Liquid layer remains, the thickness of which is such that by evaporation no liquid on the surface of the liquid: liquid-free stains can arise. When using air nozzles, evaporation occurs naturally as a result Fluid losses.
