Description
Imitation jewelery stone with one made of transparent material Gemstone moldings and process for their production The invention relates to an imitation jewelery stone with one made of transparent material Gemstone moldings. It is known to use such Imitationsschmuckstesnen Generation of the optical effect either the entire gemstone molding or individual areas of the same with a covering applied to its surface, which can be reflection-increasing or reflection-reducing, or the color effects may show by mistake as a result of interference. A special type of a Such a gem has an opaque side on the side facing away from the viewer Fully mirrored, while the side facing the viewer is free of layers. With Such a gem should often be used in conjunction with a certain cut the appearance of a diamond can be mimicked. However, it is very difficult to do that to achieve the strong sparkle of a real diamond. The one with such imitation jewelery stones The metallic coating applied to the rear merely shows the effect of being metallic Shiny, but not really sparkling, d. H. no constant swaying between highs and lower extreme values of the reflection. The "fire" of a diamond is based on that a ray of light, when it is at an angle of incidence, is total internal reflection allowed to hit an interface diamond-air, reflected back with high intensity and can fall into the eye of the beholder, this light reflex for the Viewer but the next moment disappears when the orientation of the concerned Area opposite the light beam z. B. as a result of a slight hand movement of a Ring bearer is changed. According to the invention, this effect can be achieved in a simple manner be imitated.
An imitation jewelery stone according to the invention with a transparent one Material existing gemstone moldings, which both on the from the viewer facing away as well as on the side facing the viewer with one on his Surface is provided with a reflection-increasing coating, is characterized by that said covering has an opening on the side facing the viewer having.
As with gemstones according to the invention, the better imitation effect is achieved, is explained using the exemplary embodiments described.
The F i g. 1 a and 1 b show one on the facing away from the viewer Side mirrored gemstone, with one half facing the viewer Side is provided with a coating that increases the reflection, while the other Half is free. The free half represents the breakthrough of the reflection-increasing Covering.
The F i g. 2 a and 2 b show a similar gemstone in which However, the reflection-increasing coating only on the inclined surfaces that are on the viewer facing side of the gemstone molding are perforated.
In contrast, FIGS. 3 a and 3 b a gemstone in which from the surfaces of the gemstone molding located on the side facing the viewer only those are provided with the reflection-increasing coating, the inclined surfaces form, while the board surface is free of the said coating.
In all figures, 1 means the gemstone molding. This can have any cut. For the purpose of describing the present Invention are on the one hand those located on the side facing the spectator Considered areas which are designated in the figures with 2 and 3; it can with differently shaped stones still have more such surfaces. On the other hand will be the parts of the surface located on the side facing away from the viewer are viewed, which are summarized with 4. The surfaces 4 are in a manner known per se provided with a reflection-increasing coating, which is fully mirrored or partially transparent Mirroring is formed. As a mirror coating can be vapor-deposited or chemically applied metallic layers z. B. can be used from silver or aluminum.
The surfaces facing the viewer also have a reflection-increasing effect Topping that is in the Figures is indicated by hatching. This According to the invention, the partially transparent, reflection-increasing covering on the front side is provided with an opening formed which fulfills a special task.
By covering almost the whole stone with a reflection-increasing A radiation cavity is created inside the stone. By at least on the side facing the viewer, partially translucent, reflection-increasing Through the layer, light rays penetrate this cavity and are there from reflected back and forth several times on the reflective walls. At every reflection Part of the light follows a partially transparent boundary surface outside, but most of the light comes through the opening in the reflection-increasing Topping off. The breakthrough causes a concentration of the emerging Light. However, this is not evenly distributed over all directions. Because the numerous reflection possibilities inside the stone on the various With reflective facets, there are numerous preferred directions in which the light is reflected and then passes through the breakthrough to the outside. The mentioned light concentration and directional distribution have the consequence that such a gemstone even with very weak room lighting shows an intense sparkle. Slightest changes Orientation of the gemstone in relation to the observing eye one after the other the rays of light emerging from the stone in different directions into the eye fall, which in connection with the increased intensity gives the impression of sparkling generated.
Another effect that contributes to the good imitation effect is the following: With real diamonds, the penetrating light suffers when passing through a strong dispersion due to the breaking interface, d. that is, a decomposition occurs in the different spectral colors. Own the different colored rays of light a different direction inside the stone, and with each subsequent reflection the spatial separation between the different colored rays is increased. If this is strong enough, it will come out of the stone in different directions emerging light colored. The observing eye then sees when the stone is moving becomes, a continuous change of the reflection color.
The same effect is also obtained with the artificial one according to the invention Gemstone scored. In this case, too, the penetrating light is a consequence of the Dispersion of the material of the gemstone molding broken down spectrally. This effect but would be proportionate for those mostly used for artificial gemstones breaking down materials so small that it cannot be seen with the naked eye could. Due to the reflection-increasing coating, however, every incoming light beam becomes so often reflected back and forth inside the stone; that spatial separation becomes observable. Although gemstones are already applied on all sides reflection-increasing coating has become known. In these, however, the invention Intended effect not achieved because the light from the stone does not come through a diaphragm - namely the breakthrough point according to the present invention - limited was. There was the dilemma of having to choose between a highly reflective covering, which weakened the light emerging in a certain viewing direction, or a weakly reflective coating that did not reinforce the dispersion sufficiently, had to choose. The invention, however, allows the reflectivity of the covering to be chosen sufficiently large, because the light rays passing through the breakout point emerge have a much higher intensity than the rays that pass through one partially permeable covering could get through to the outside.
The formation of the reflection-increasing coating with a breakout point evidently has a glare effect, so that a weak dispersion becomes visible when a bundle of differently directed bundles coming from the inside of the stone colored rays cut through the edge of the pavement at the breakout point will. Only a part of these rays can then reach the outside, the emerging Accordingly, light is no longer white, but changes depending on the direction of view Play of colors.
The application of the perforated required for the implementation of the invention Reflection-increasing coatings on the gemstone moldings are primarily made in a vacuum in such a way that these coverings are attached to the Breakthroughs are vapor-deposited. To achieve peculiar jewelry effects it is often advisable to have the perforation point with running edges to be formed by the masks relative to the ones to be evaporated during the vapor deposition Gemstone moldings are moved or by the masks during vapor deposition held at a certain distance from the gemstone moldings to be steamed will. The break-through point of the reflection-increasing covering itself can be unoccupied stay or even increase their light transmission with one at least for a wavelength range of visible light, anti-reflective coating be provided in a manner known per se.
