Milling head for the production of external threads and external serrations
Previously known thread rolling heads with interchangeable and adjustable, on eccentric
Journal-mounted tool rolls are operated by toothed segments that are connected to the
Gear rim with straight teeth for the purpose of opening and closing the rolling device
intervention. The tooth segments have normal helical gearing with right-hand
or left-hand pitch, depending on whether you roll right or left-hand threads
Has. The transition from right-hand to left-hand thread is labor-intensive for the exchange
of the tooth segments connected. The invention is based on the object of this amount of work
to eliminate. This exchange is not necessary in the device according to the invention,
that toothed segments 9 are used, both for rolling to the shaft axis
parallel shaft grooves as well as for the rolling of right-hand and left-hand threads
can be.
The invention relates to a threaded head for external threads and external serrations
with exchangeable and adjustable shaping tool rolls. The latter are
according to the invention stored in eccentric pins, the teeth in a counter-toothing
of segments engages. The invention consists in that the pins of the tool rolls
are stored in interchangeable cylindrical bushings, the bore of which by the pitch angle
(a) of the thread to be rolled from the one parallel to the roller head axis to the cylindrical one
Outer surface of the bushing relative to the central axis of the bushing differs. The sockets point
here an end face running at right angles to the roller head axis, and the
Segment teeth are straight in the middle part of their width and symmetrical on both sides
beveled towards the end faces of the segments at the mentioned angle (a),
at an angle that corresponds to the inclination of the end face of the tool roll bushings
is equivalent to. As a result, the teeth of the toothed segment grip during manufacture
of axially parallel notches of a serration only with its middle part,
when rolling right-hand threads and left-hand threads with the beveled flanks in
the straight teeth of the wreath.

As shown in FIG. 1, the roller head 1 is in the support 2
attached to a lathe. However, it can also be attached to a lathe spindle
and the workpiece can be moved axially against the roller head. On the roller head 1
at least three tool rolls 5 are freely supported on eccentric pins 6.
The eccentric pins 6 of the tool rolls 5 are mounted in sockets,
either in the sockets 7 for rolling axially parallel notches - the

for thread rolling. In this case the socket axis is swiveled out by the angle a,
which corresponds to the pitch angle of the rolled thread. Also in
in this case the one for the production
of axially parallel notches

The device works, for example, in such a way that the roller head 1 according to FIG. 1 is axially displaced against the rotating shaft 4. The shaft 4, which is clamped as a workpiece in the universal clamping head 3 of a lathe and receives an inevitable rotational movement, is inserted between the tool rollers 5, which rotate automatically as a result of the rotation of the shaft 4. Due to the inevitable axial movement of the rotating shaft 4 between the tool rolls 5, the corresponding grooves are formed on the shaft 4 by means of the effective part of the tool rolls.
