A method of predetermining the amount of an ink for printing
of a color pattern The invention relates to a method of predetermination
the consumption of printing ink.
The purpose of the invention is to determine in advance the consumption of printing ink for a given print pattern with great accuracy. This is particularly important when printing on textiles because textiles absorb a relatively large amount of printing ink, the colors required for such substances are often expensive and the amounts of colors absorbed by the substances during printing can vary greatly depending on the type of substance and the type of color; furthermore, it is usually difficult to match the hue of the printing ink, which has been empirically produced by mixing, again later. It is therefore necessary at the start of printing to provide the individual printing inks as precisely as possible in the amount that is required when printing the intended amount of substance.
So far, the amount of the respective color required for printing patterns, for example multicolored patterns, has often been determined by estimation. This requires a lot of experience and leads to gross errors with complex patterns. In other cases, the amount of ink required is determined by printing the stencil in the respective color on a section of the material to be printed and determining the amount of ink absorbed by weighing the section before and after printing. In multicolor printing so a section ever printed in any of the various colors and balanced. The amount of the respective color to be made available for printing is then obtained by multiplying the determined weight by the value corresponding to the length of the length of the material web to be printed. This process is time-consuming and expensive because a section of fabric the size of the printing block or the printing stencil is used for each color.
According to the invention, the content of the pattern is to be determined
Amount of color determined by electro-optical means, namely that by means of a
Printing plate of the color in question an imprint on a base in one for
Underlay made of strongly contrasting color and the change brought about by it
the light reflection of the base compared to the non-printed base electro-optically
is determined. To determine the absorption of paint by different fabrics
must still have a piece of the material to be printed over its entire surface
evenly printed with the ink and the amount of ink absorbed by the fabric
can be determined by weighing. The drawing shows an embodiment of the arrangement
for practicing the method according to the invention.
4 fallende Lichtmenge in Prozenten angibt.
The pattern to be printed in a specific color, for example in a yellow color, is printed in black on a sheet of white paper 1. For this purpose z. B. the printing block intended for the yellow color has been colored with black color and printed on the sheet 1. The sheet of paper 1 is then placed under light sources 2 and 3, the constant brightness of which can be controlled; a photocell 4 is acted upon exclusively by the light which is reflected from the paper sheet 1. For this purpose, an optical system with lenses 5 and 6 and a mask 7 corresponding to the sheet 1 are provided between the paper sheet 1 and the photocell 4. The photocell 4 is connected via an amplifier 8 to a measuring device 9 , the scale of which is calibrated so that it indicates the amount of light falling on the photocell 4 as a percentage. This value then indicates the percentage of the entire fabric surface that is to be printed by the relevant color, in the present example the yellow color.
If the voltage of the current for light sources 2 and 3 is not expected to be sufficiently constant, it is advisable to simultaneously illuminate an unprinted sheet of paper from light sources of the same power network, to determine the reflected light by a second photocell and this photocell and photocell 4 as above to connect with a measuring instrument that this indicates the difference in reflection and thus the size of the printed area of the sheet 1.
So you only need one very much for the method according to the invention
simple apparatus, furthermore only a few sheets of paper, a mere printing of the for
the
printing blocks or stencils provided for individual colors on these sheets of paper,
the determination of the measured value on an instrument and its multiplication with the
Value that corresponds to the length of the path to be printed.
