Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
The process described below relates to the destruction of sulphite cellulose waste liquors.
It is well known that the sulphite cellulose factories, which are not located on large watercourses, to struggle with great difficulties as to the harmful waste liquors.
Very large quantities are involved here; so z. B. the largest German pulp mill Waldhof have to clear about 1,5oocbm in 24 hours. It was therefore for the practical feasibility of the destruction of waste liquors absolutely necessary, that the cost of treating the quantities of liquid by recycling chemicals would be at least approximately covered. That is why so many patents are involved such as by Dr. Frank, Dr. Drews en and many others, with the recovery of the sulfur from the sulphite cellulose waste liquors by placing this material next to the wood largest consumables in the sulphite pulp production. But they are all based on the incorrect assumption that the sulfur in large quantities in the waste liquors is in the form easily separable sulphurous acid is contained. On the basis of this knowledge and in With a view to the fact that none of the procedures mentioned lead to complete elimination and rendering harmless the leaching, it has now been possible to recover the entire sulfur at the same time as the complete To achieve destruction of the waste liquor in such a way that the sulphonic acid resp. Sulfur present bound in organic substances is recovered. That can after the experiments and work carried out only by burning the. Leachate under Added lime done.
The in H ο fm a η η 's Handbuch der Papierfabrikation, 2nd edition, Volume II, page 15 10 The procedure is to evaporate neutralized waste liquors and burn them with or without the addition of lime, but without the To regenerate sulfur, in order at the same time as that for the success of the process necessary finely divided lime to win.
The present process aims to destroy the waste liquors in. practical and economically usable way with almost complete elimination of waste and by-products and obtaining the sulfur.
The inventor recognized earlier that the evaporation of such alkalis in the Residues or incrustations obtained in a vacuum have a significant calorific value; so the lye incrustations of 1000 kg of cellulose have a calorific value of 700 to 800 kg Coal of 7000 W. E. This circumstance seemed to justify the hope that by burning it through a rational Evaporation of the lye residue obtained in a vacuum, destruction of the lyes would be possible, which does not incur any costs. Here, soda is also obtained, which is used to neutralize the alkalis.
In order to arrive at a usable residue, it is according to the present invention it is necessary to mix the evaporation residue with a solution corresponding to the sulfur of these alkalis Amount of carbonate of lime to be added.
Here, however, it is above all important that the carbonate of lime is very finely divided Condition comes to use, otherwise with the sticky nature the lye does not undergo a regular chemical reaction.
This enables a continuous combustion, with the help of which one only is able to do the former odorless and completely, therefore economically, because then the carbonic lime divides as molecularly as possible with the lye constituents mixed. In this connection it is also advantageous that one finally goes to the Procefs himself Lime recovers in the form of finely precipitated carbonate of lime, so that it can be recovered does not form an annoying waste product, but can be used again in the process can find which circumstance the technical practical usability with regard to the economic execution increased.
As a result, it would be impractical and unprofitable to use natural carbonate of lime to use, since it is difficult to pulverize the latter so finely and evenly, and secondly, this creates annoying waste products. It has now been found that the process, owing to its peculiar combination, can be conducted in such a way that it is more precise carbonate of lime is obtained in the regeneration of sulfur, by means of which Use the procedure is particularly valuable.
Dementsprechend verfährt man in folgender Weise.Accordingly, one proceeds in the following way.
The used sulphite cooking liquor is neutralized with soda obtained according to the process, then the water is expediently in steam boilers using the Vacuums evaporated. The evaporation residue obtained is placed in suitable calcining ovens with the addition of precipitated carbonate of lime in such an amount as that in the waste liquor of z. B. ioookg pulp corresponds to 50 to 150 kg of sulfur, depending on the type of manufacture, burned. The escaping combustion gases are used for heating, e.g. B. used by steam boilers, while the mineral residue is leached. The soda solution obtained is again used to neutralize the lye, mainly for the purpose of sulfur regeneration to make possible, because for this it is absolutely necessary "to mix the resulting melt of a soluble salt and by leaching the latter to loosen it up that with water they turn them into a pulpy state suitable for carbonic acid treatment can be brought.
The leaching residue, which mainly consists of calcium sulfur, is now processed on sulfur with simultaneous production of precipitated carbonic acid Lime. This is expediently done in such a way that the calcium sulphide is mixed with water to form a milk or a thin one Mixes porridge, introduces carbonic acid and thereby precipitated calcium carbonate and escapes Generates hydrogen sulfide, the latter e.g. B. in a Claus furnace in sulfur is converted. Since it is on average per 1000 kg of pulp, depending on the type of manufacture If the recovery of 100 kg of sulfur is concerned, the value is recovered sulfur so much that even small factories take part in the regeneration Be able to operate. The calcium carbonate produced in this way is dried and used as an additive used for the lye evaporation residue to be burned.
The process is and remains the same in execution and effect for all sulphite waste liquors, no matter whether they contain sodium, calcium or magnesium bisulfite. In all cases As indicated, finely divided carbonate of lime must be added to remove the sulfur to bind, as the amount of lime it contains also in the calcium bisulfite waste liquor does not correspond to the presence of sulfur. This is evident from the fact that those used to cook the Cellulose used calcium bisulfite waste liquor contains at least twice as much sulfur as for Formation of calcium sulfite from the lime contained in the lye is required.
