The aim of the invention is to achieve a more complete utilization of the raw material used (e.g. wood) in the production of cellulose by directing the process in such a way that the constituents of the raw material released during cooking are used in a simple and economical manner the chemicals used can be recovered from the liquor, thereby eliminating the formation of waste liquors, which are so troublesome for rivers and the like.
It has already been proposed to achieve a similar result by the Electrolysis of sulphite cellulose waste liquors immediately or, in the case of sulphate cellulose liquors, first after neutralization with acid, so that the dissolved organic substances first partly get knocked down.
The present invention is based on the other hand on an electrolysis of a soluble 'Alkali sulphate (especially sodium sulphate) as well as the use of in electrolysis resulting solutions of alkali hydroxide or sulfuric acid during the following pulp boiling or the treatment of the lye. The alkali metal hydroxide solution formed during the electrolysis of a solution of alkali metal sulfate is used in the cooking process for the production of sulfite cellulose, after the alkali hydroxide means in the usual way sulphurous acid has been converted into bisulfite. For the production of soda cellulose however, the alkali hydroxide solution as such or after partial conversion used in sulfhydrate.
Dieses in der Lauge nach dem KochenThe solution of sulfuric acid resulting from the electrolysis of the alkali sulfate solution is only used after the cellulose has been boiled and is then added to the waste liquor after the cellulose has been separated off. That at Alkali used in the cooking process, which combines with organic substances has, as well as the alkali left behind in the lye as bisulfite or sulfite is thereby converted back to sulfate. The amount of sulfuric acid solution obtained in the electrolysis corresponds only to that Alkali that was formed as alkali hydroxide in the same process and in the cooking process has been transferred so that if after boiling cooking liquor and electrolytically obtained Sulfuric acid solution, the same amount of alkali sulphate as that decomposed during electrolysis is re-formed will. This in the lye after cooking
wiedererzeugte Alkalisulfat wird endlich zur Kristallisation gebracht, um gegebenenfalls wieder benutzt zu werden, jedoch erst, nachdem die Lauge der weiter unten beschriebenen Behandlung zur Abtrennung der in ihr vorhandenen organischen Stoffe unterworfen worden ist.regenerated alkali sulphate is finally brought to crystallization to possibly to be used again, but only after the lye described below Treatment has been subjected to the separation of the organic substances present in it.
Such a liquor used for Sulfitkochen which is replaced \ r with the already mentioned to electrodeposited sulfuric acid solution, shows on evaporation no significant difference from each other, sulfite liquor obtained directly from the cooking process, while in the former, the alkali metal compounds have been converted into sulfates and Lye also contains free sulfonic acid compounds. If, in the meantime, enough sulfuric acid is added to such a lye, which already contains sulfuric acid solution from electrolysis, that an excess of free acid is formed in the solution, and the lye is then evaporated, then the free sulfuric acid will get a certain concentration has precipitated the organic substances present in the lye, in such a form that the precipitate can be conveniently filtered off and washed. When these organic precipitated substances have been separated off, the filtrate contains, in addition to free sulfuric acid, alkali metal sulphate and organic substances, the amount of which depends on the completeness of the earlier precipitation of such substances. The alkali sulphate is then crystallized out of this solution, separated off and returned to the electrolysis, while the mother liquor containing sulfuric acid is mixed with a new amount of cooking liquor supplied by the cooking process in order to precipitate the organic substances present in it It should be apparent that the excess of free sulfuric acid used is neither lost nor consumed, but that it is only used as a mediator in the decomposition of the organic substances, which can take place at a temperature of 100 ° C. Also escape during evaporation and decomposition volatile acids such as formic and acetic acid and sulphurous acid; the latter gas is used in the cooking process for the formation of bisulphite, while the two organic acids are collected and used for themselves Alkalihy obtained from alkali sulphate solution Hydroxide solution either immediately or, after it has first been converted into sulfhydrate or mixed with sulfhydrate or other sulfur compounds, is used in cooking. If this alkali coming from the cooking process is mixed with the sulfuric acid solution from the alkali sulfate electrolysis, the alkali present in the alkali compounds of the alkali is also converted into sulphate, although hydrogen sulphide can be developed at the same time if the cooking liquor contains sulphhydrate or sulphide compounds. The evolved hydrogen sulfide is brought to the alkali hydroxide to be used for the cellulose boiling, whereby the sulfhydrate required for the boiling process is produced. The organic substances that are difficult to filter, on the other hand, can follow the lye to the next operation.
After the sodium cellulose eyes have been treated in the manner described, According to the invention, they are now mixed with excess sulfuric acid, such as in the description of the treatment of the SuI-fitcellulose eye was indicated, after which the Lye is evaporated. With this addition of sulfuric acid in excess, separate after evaporation, the organic matter in an easily filterable, washable form off and are separated. Alkali sulfate is crystallized from the remaining solution, which is kept, after which the mother liquor with its sulfuric acid is reused for new precipitation of organic substances will. The dissolved organic substances present in both the sulphite and sodium cellulose eyes can be more or less completely or in fractions by adjusting the degree of evaporation of the alkalis (or their concentration) and the amount of excess acid used will.
In the drawing, a system for carrying out the method is shown schematically. The cooking process here is said to be using sodium as the base and sodium sulfate act as an electrolyte in electrolysis. Of course, bases other than sodium can also be used.

When the evaporation in the device g has lasted a sufficient time and the free sulfuric acid present has been concentrated to a certain extent, the dissolved organic substances present in the lye are precipitated in a form that is easily nitridable and washable. These substances and the lye are then transferred through line χ to the filtering and washing device h, in which the precipitate is filtered off and washed. The washing is expediently carried out with non-evaporated cooking liquor; water should only be used for the actual washing. The washed-out precipitate is removed through line y and the first separated filtrate is passed through pipe ζ to the crystallization device i . The sodium sulfate which crystallizes out there can optionally be fed back through the line w to the container α , so that the sodium used in the cooking process is reintroduced into the process. The mother liquor with strongly concentrated sulfuric acid is returned through line u to the evaporation device g , where it is used for the decomposition and precipitation of new amounts of organic substances.
It is already known that the organic substances from waste liquors in pulp production by mineral acids, such as. B. sulfuric acid to precipitate. But is with these known methods never used sulfuric acid obtained by the electrolytic decomposition of sodium sulphate and that in electrolysis Caustic soda formed has also been used.
It is also known that formed during the treatment of waste liquors with sulfuric acid Allow sodium sulfate to crystallize and separate from the mother liquor.
