Kobalt unmittelbar nickelarmes Kobalt herzustellen.Process for the electrolytic production of low-nickel cobalt
The invention relates to a method by electrolytic means from nickel-containing
Cobalt directly to produce low-nickel cobalt.
In the electrolytic production of cobalt, regardless of whether with
soluble or insoluble anodes, the cathodic deposit initially contains
less nickel than the ratio of cobalt to nickel in the starting material.
Since the nickel ions that have not been deposited accumulate in the electrolyte, forms
After some time a steady state emerges in which there is just as much at the cathode
Nickel ions are discharged as they go into solution at the anode. It has now been found
that low-nickel cobalt can be obtained by making this stationary
Condition is prevented.
The starting material for the production of electrolyte contains cobalt
in general there are almost always other metallic impurities besides nickel,
like iron and manganese, which were previously removed before electrolysis. The rainfall,
which occur in gel-like form, have the property of other metals
to precipitate the solutions adsorptively. It has now also been found that the gel-like
Precipitation that z. B. in the precipitation of iron and / or manganese from cobalt and
Solutions containing nickel are separated, always contain more nickel than
corresponds to the ratio of cobalt to nickel in these solutions, namely is
preferred coprecipitation of nickel depends on the nickel concentration.
Verwendet man
According to the invention it was found that the observed effect is sufficient
to the formation of the mentioned stationary by continuous co-precipitation of nickel
State and in this way electrolytically from nickel-containing directly
to produce low-nickel cobalt. In the precipitation of metallic impurities
it is advantageous to set the pH value as high as possible without, however, doing anything worth mentioning
Amounts of cobalt are also precipitated. It is advisable to use electrolytic cells with diaphragms
to use in order to enrich the nickel in the anolyte as much as possible. If you use
as a starting material for electrolysis z. B. anodes contaminated with iron,
so it is necessary to maintain the cobalt concentration in the electrolyte
add contaminated cobalt salt in any form before cleaning. Those
Contamination of the cobalt salt, which also result in gel-like precipitation products, carry
then contribute in the same way to the co-precipitation of nickel.
The ratio of cobalt to nickel in the cathode cobalt can be determined by the amount
the impurities to be precipitated and the cobalt concentration in the electrolyte
can be set. It is beneficial to keep the cobalt concentration close to the
To maintain saturation concentration without reaching it.
beziehen.
Wasser gewaschen. To illustrate the process, four examples are given
focus on electrolysis with soluble cobalt anodes of various compositions
relate. The cathodic current density was 200 to 250 A / m2. The continuously
Anolyte running off was treated with so much cobalt salt solution that the original
Cobalt concentration in the total electrolyte was retained. Then the
Iron at a pH of 4.8 and a temperature of 55 ° C is precipitated and the precipitate
filtered off. The filtrate was fed to the catholyte and the residue with hot
Water washed.
