Bei umsteuerbaren Walzenzugmaschinen, besonders bei solchen von größeren Abmessungen, ist die zur Zeit übliche Regelung der Gangart bezw. ihrer Arbeitsleistung noch unvollkommen. Da diese Maschinen sowohl mit voller Belastung als auch leer angehen müssen, und zwar augenblicklich, so wird von vornherein die Steuerung für Vorwärtsgang oder Rückwärtsgang voll ausgelegt und dann die Regelung durch Verstellung des Frischdampfventils bewirkt, d. h. es wird mit gedrosseltem Dampfe gearbeitet; dieses Verfahren ist sehr unvortheilhaft und hat verschiedene Nachtheile im Gefolge, wie mangelhafte Ausnutzung der Expansionskraft des hochgespannten Dampfes u. s. w. Die naheliegende Regelung der Maschine mittelst der Steuerung bei vollgeöffnetem Hauptventile, wodurch allen diesen Uebelständen abgeholfen würde, ist nicht angängig, vielmehr erfordern die schweren Steuergestänge eine maschinelle Bedienung, was aber ausschließt, daß die Bethätigung durch den Maschinisten mit der, besonders im Walzwerkbetrieb erforderlichen Genauigkeit und Schnelligkeit vor sich gehen kann.In the case of reversible compactors, especially those of larger dimensions, is the currently usual regulation of the gait respectively. their work performance imperfect.
