By patent application W 15854 IV a / 57 d is a method for the production of grids, drawings and others on films, glasses and the like by means of wash-out reliefs colored by the reduction of metal salt solutions Protected from chromate plastic layers, which consists essentially in that for Coloring the exposed hardened layer or the remaining hardened relief with a silver salt solution and treated with the solution of a reducing agent to achieve the desired color conversion will.
Using, for example an ammoniacal thereafter, virtually colorless solution of silver nitrate and glucose and scored in this way, the picture elements of either a light yellow to 1 vol- S learning deep black without any tint and complete opacity.
It has now been found that, within the framework of the usual copying technology, this can be done according to the main patent application available colored wash-out reliefs on transparent, etchable substrates such as glass or film, with advantage for coloring etched grids or other templates when using the per se known method of asphalt copy can use.
In this known method, an asphalt layer is created by exposure from the rear side of the carrier hardened, provided that no picture elements on the front side hinder hardening, and the unexposed one Part of the asphalt layer washed off, so that negatives are created by etching the free laid surfaces result in a positive.
However, the previous production of asphalt copies has not been satisfactory in all cases, since none completely opaque image elements were available and thus during the exposure of these Picture elements covered with asphalt could also allow light to pass through the picture elements and thus also hardened areas of the asphalt overlay, which lay over the picture elements and after The hardened asphalt layer peeled off and the negatives were blurred and even unusable.
Es ist praktisch unvermeidbar, daß die Ätzfiüssigkeit in unkontrollierbarem Maß unter der Chro-Verfahren zur HerstellungEven if the carrier is metallized before the light-sensitive layer is applied as a preparation the etching, as prescribed by a known method, is not reliable the achievement of sharp negatives, as a metal layer on the removal of the chromate layer uncovered area there is the possibility of damage to those parts of the metal layer that are under the chromate layer, especially if a fresh etching bath is used will. It is practically inevitable that the corrosive liquid will become uncontrollable under the chro process for the production

matschicht der Bildelemente weiterfressen kann und somit eine einwandfreie Ausbildung, besonders bei feinen Vorlagen, nicht gewährleistet werden kann.mat layer of the picture elements can continue to eat and thus a perfect training, especially with fine originals, cannot be guaranteed.
In contrast, it has been shown that, provided that colored wash-out reliefs are used according to the main patent application by covering the master copy thus obtained with asphalt and an exposure from the back with perfectly exact picture elements even with the finest drawings and for claims such as those made in grids are obtained in all cases after the unexposed and uncured asphalt layer is peeled off, whereupon the exposed areas through Etching deepened and then the deepened areas can be filled with a pigment. Originals or grids etched in this way have the particular advantage that they are practically invulnerable and against later impairments, especially against weather influences, even with the finest elements, such as fine divisions, line drawings, etc., remain constant.
Die Figuren bedeuten:The development of the process is explained using an example on the basis of the drawing. The figures mean:

Fig. 4 die Glasplatte mit den nach der Hauptpatentanmeldung angefärbten Bildelementen,4 shows the glass plate with the according to the main patent application colored picture elements,
Fig. 5 die Glasplatte nach Überschichtung der gehärteten Bildelemente mit einer Asphaltschicht,5 shows the glass plate after the hardened picture elements have been covered with an asphalt layer,
■ Fig. 7 die Glasplatte nach Ätzung.6 shows the glass plate after the unhardened portion of the asphalt layer has been detached,
■ Fig. 7 the glass plate after etching.
The procedure is as follows: the glass plate α is coated with a commercially available polyvinyl alcohol solution which has been made light-sensitive with an addition of bichromate by pouring it on and forms the layer layer b. Then the negative original, consisting of a glass plate d, on which the black and white drawing, a grid or other black and white before position c is applied, is placed and exposed in the direction of the arrows e. The plate α with the exposed layer b is then developed in a water bath and, as shown in FIG. 3, the plate α remains with the hardened image elements b.
Thereafter, the treatment described in the main patent application for coloring the picture elements b is carried out with a silver nitrate solution of about 4 percent by weight AgNO 3 in distilled water and mixed with the addition of ammonia until the color changes to a clear, slightly cloudy tint.
Shortly before use, a second solution of 27 g of grape sugar in 1 l of water with an addition of 2.5 ecm of formalin was added to this solution. By swiveling the plate with the picture elements according to FIG. 3 in this solution, the shape shown in FIG. 4 with deep, black picture elements b is produced after about 10 minutes. Then an asphalt lacquer solution of the kind commonly used for asphalt copies is poured on, which fills the spaces between the colored picture elements and covers the picture elements themselves. This poured asphalt layer is marked /. The glass plate is then exposed from the rear in the direction of the arrows g. In this case, the light rays that act on the asphalt layer from its rear side can only cause hardening of the asphalt insofar as no image elements b have a covering effect from this side.
The asphalt-coated plate exposed in this way is then swiveled in a solvent bath until the non-hardened portions that were on top of the picture elements are detached (Fig. 6). Subsequent treatment in a hydrofluoric acid bath or another suitable one Etching agent, depending on the type of carrier used, the etching is carried out in a manner known per se, the areas covered by asphalt exclude attack by hydrofluoric acid. After cleaning the Glass plate is obtained the shape shown schematically in Fig. 7 with recessed areas as picture elements, those with any dye, e.g. B. pigment, are filled.
Oil paints, stoving enamels or pigment paints made with water glass are suitable for this purpose, like soot or slurried iron oxide.
B.Instead of the etching described, a matt etching can also be carried out. After all, you can too again in approximation of the process according to the main patent application, the etched elements, z. B.
Strokes, by using a chromate plastic layer as a chromate copy, represent that by treatment in the solution of a silver salt and by using a reducing agent in any Coloring from light yellow to black, the relevant lines, drawings or the like appear filled leaves.
